Welcome to this meditation designed to help us detach a little bit from our attachments.
Attachments are so common in our everyday lives,
Whether it's an attachment to a certain way of being or attachment to a certain object like our phones and our screens,
Attachment to a certain genre of books,
Attachment to certain foods or places.
And some of these attachments are not bad.
Not all attachments are negative.
But some of them could be.
And these could be attachments to unhealthy things.
Attachments to relationships that no longer serve us,
Attachments to outcomes,
Attachment to things that we can't control So many things,
So many things that bring up attachments in our day-to-day lives that sometimes don't serve us and sometimes we want to lessen our urge and our desire towards them.
So wherever you are at the moment,
I'll invite you to find a comfortable seat.
A space where it's quiet.
A space where you can tune into yourself for the next few minutes.
And once you've found your space and your seat you can start to close the eyes or lower the gaze.
And then I'll let you slowly get connected with your breath shifting your attention to the rise and the fall of the breath.
Noticing its fluidity.
Noticing the length of the breath the pace of your breathing.
Noticing how the breath is at this moment So I'll invite you to bring to mind any attachment,
Whether it's your phone,
Whether it's a relationship,
Whether it's an attachment to a certain outcome.
Maybe you're doing a fitness race,
Running a marathon,
And you are determined to get a certain time.
Maybe it's a business result.
Maybe it's grades from school.
Maybe it's a presentation at work.
Maybe it's someone's reaction.
Someone's response towards you.
What are you attached to?
And just letting that simmer in your mind.
Remember that there is no good or bad,
Right or wrong.
Whatever comes to mind,
Allow that to simmer.
And in this space know that anything is welcome.
Now just for this situation,
Let's imagine your life without this attachment.
What would happen if you didn't have this attachment?
How would you feel?
What would your life look like?
And as you imagine this really improve and And as you breathe into it,
Notice how the body responds.
What does the body tighten?
Does it tense up?
Or does it soften?
Is there more space?
Have you let go of something?
And sometimes we can want things,
Sometimes we can set goals without desperately clinging onto it,
Without expecting some things to turn out a certain way.
Because some things we don't have control over.
And just knowing that we're trying our best every moment with what we have.
Maybe that's enough.
And maybe we don't have to hold on to,
Grip on to,
Cling on to so much of the things that we can't control.
And maybe when you let go,
Little by little,
Of this attachment.
Maybe if you let go just a little bit towards the outcome.
Maybe it gives your mind more space.
Maybe it gives your mind a little bit of a soft state.
Instead of rigidity,
Instead of toughness.
Maybe there's some ease,
Some grace,
Some compassion.
And just notice how this feels when you really soak into it,
When you simmer.
Taking a deep breath in and a full exhale out.
Another deep breath in.
Letting go.
Last one together a deep inhale in and a full,
Long exhale out.
Returning to a normal round of breath.
And again noticing how it feels to be.
Thank you for joining me in this meditation today and I hope you have a great day ahead.
