This is a five-minute breathing space mindfulness meditation. It can be used at any time, but particularly good for in the midst of a busy day when some perspective is needed. Don't worry if it doesn't seem to have worked, just stopping for 5 will have done something!

5 minute breathing space.

Become aware of your mind.

Thinking.

Watch the thoughts as they arise.

Pass by and go away.

There may be a torrent of thoughts.

Or there may be just a few or none.

Watch whatever's happening.

Feel into your body.

Any sensations here and now.

Any physical discomfort.

Any emotions.

Just notice what's going on for you right now.

Connect with the breath.

Wherever you feel it most.

Just resting your attention here.

If those thoughts or feelings intrude,

Don't fight them.

Just wait for them to pass or to not pass.

Not striving for any particular state.

Just allowing whatever is to be.

Does your breath come more slowly or more quickly?

More deep or more shallow?

Now listening for the sound of the bell.

When you can no longer hear it.

Opening your eyes.

The sound of the bell.

The sound of the bell.

The sound of the bell.
