I want to read one of my favorite quotes to you.
I have it hanging up in my meditation corner and it says,
Some people try to turn back their odometers,
Not me.
I want people to know why I look this way.
I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
I love this.
I love this quote so much.
What I really take from that is just owning your journey,
Taking responsibility for your journey,
Not apologizing for who you are,
Why you look and sound the way you do.
This doesn't mean that you could go ahead and just hurt people and be unkind and say,
Well,
My roads weren't paved.
I can't help it.
I've definitely had that story where I blamed my way of being on the way my parents raised me and the people that were mean to me.
It gave me permission to be how I wanted to be.
As I've gotten older and just gone deeper into my spiritual and personal growth journey,
What I'm really getting is not letting the past actually define you,
But knowing that it happened for a reason and you are separate from that.
You are not your past.
You have the ability to create right now the future that you want.
If you don't like something about yourself for whatever reason,
You have the ability right now to drop it.
The quote is great because it points to that we all have our journey and that it's not about being perfect,
Looking good or avoid looking bad.
You also have the power and choice in changing your life right now.
If you don't like your eating habits,
You can change it right now.
If you don't like that you're not exercising,
You could change that right now.
You're not happy with certain clients in your business and you think you're attracting the wrong kind of client,
You can decide right now the kind of client that you want to work with and take the action steps necessary to change your life,
To transform your life actually.
What I want you to get from this is this is a journey.
The end goal is not perfection.
It's not about being perfect.
It is,
However,
Being the best version of you possible,
The way God intended for you to be and how you want to be,
Right?
Not how anyone else wants or thinks you should look.
It's just what you want for yourself.
You have the ability to be anyone that you want to be.
What I love about famous people and celebrities and all these people is that they probably didn't grow up thinking that they'd be as famous as they were,
But at some point along the way I imagined that they just envisioned that that's who they wanted to be,
That I'm going to be this person,
That I'm going to go out there and this is who I'm going to be in the world.
This is how I want people to view me.
This is not all celebrities I'm saying,
But I'm thinking about Jay-Z.
Jay-Z the rapper said that by the age of 30 he'd be a millionaire and that's exactly what he created and you could do the same.
Say exactly what it is that you want and don't let anything stop you.
It doesn't matter if your roads were unpaved.
That doesn't matter because that's gone.
Yesterday is so gone.
Ten years ago is gone and if you're not where you want to be,
I invite you to consider that you're still holding on to that story of yours,
All the reasons why you can't have the life that you want.
I wish you all the best in your journey.
