Hi friend!
We're just going to begin this meditation in whatever position feels most comfortable for you today.
Settle in,
Get comfortable,
Maybe close your eyes and let's just start with three clearing breaths.
So inhaling,
Filling your belly,
Your ribs move out,
Your chest lift,
And then exhale,
Completely release.
Two more just like that.
Inhaling,
Filling the expansion,
And exhaling,
Fill the weight of its release.
And one more inhaling,
Filling up,
And exhaling,
Letting go.
And our verse of focus today is John chapter 13 verse 34.
A new command I give you,
Love one another.
As I have loved you,
So you must love one another.
This idea of loving kindness towards ourselves and towards others is easily rooted in God's love for us.
How it's unconditional,
How it's unfailing,
How it's unwavering.
Is it possible that we can exude that type of love towards ourselves and towards others around us?
And if it feels okay,
I invite you to place a hand over your heart,
And then place the other on top of it.
And repeat these words to yourself.
May I be happy,
May I be healthy and whole,
May I be filled with ease.
Can you believe those words today?
Can you count them as true?
Now I invite you to envision an acquaintance,
Someone who you're familiar with,
But perhaps not super close with.
So maybe this is a neighbor,
Your favorite cashier at the grocery store,
Or maybe that bus driver that always brightens up your day.
Envision their face in your mind's eye and express to them,
May you be happy,
May you be healthy and whole,
May you be filled with ease.
And now envisioning a loved one,
Someone who you are really close with.
So maybe your partner,
Spouse,
Maybe a good friend,
A sibling.
Envision their face in your head and express to them,
May you be happy,
May you be healthy and whole,
May you be filled with ease.
And lastly,
I encourage you to envision someone who you may be in conflict with lately.
Maybe someone who you've recently had a disagreement with or just don't seem to get along with.
Envision their face and express to them,
May you be happy,
May you be healthy and whole,
May you be filled with ease.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you today from a place of wanting to express love to ourselves,
To those around us.
We know that you have this unconditional love,
That you sent your only son to die for our sins.
That's a special kind of love.
We know that there's nothing that we can do to make you love us more.
There's nothing that we can do to ever make you stop loving us.
Allow us to see the world,
Our life through that lens.
Allow us to move through this world so others can see that light and that love through us.
That through our actions and through our activities and our interactions,
They will know that we are believers,
That we are rooted in your love because of how we move,
How we talk,
The way that we share and express love.
Allow us to not take things personally.
Allow us to not hold grudges.
Allow us to move with a spirit of forgiveness.
God,
We ask that you open our eyes to see the things that you love about us,
That maybe we can see it in ourselves,
That we can grow a deeper and a more intentional type of love towards ourselves,
That we can be gentle with our thoughts and our opinions of ourselves.
God,
We know that we have to have a love from within in order to share it with those around us.
God,
Will you lead us,
Will you guide us,
Will you show us the way to love others how you love us?
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen.
When you're ready,
Simply relax your hands down,
Maybe taking one more cleansing breath in this space,
Inhaling and exhaling.
A new command I give you,
Love one another as I have loved you,
So you must love one another.
Thank you for joining me today friend.
