The Art of Non-Attachment is a way to practice impermanence, creating space for us to manifest what is meant for us. In this practice, we will leverage mindfulness meditation to realize our infinite potential to love, fuelling our trust and faith in letting go. The seed of non-attachment is watered when we trust the spaciousness within.

Welcome to the art of non-attachment.

Grateful to hold the space with you,

Grateful for your trust,

And grateful to guide us through this practice today.

Acknowledging the interconnection and the interbeing of everything,

When we come together and practice non-attachment,

We also come together and practice impermanence.

We also come together and practice even manifestation.

In this practice,

What we're really aiming to do is how can we set our intentions?

How can we let go of everything that is around us?

How do we experience life so that we're not attached to people,

Things,

Places?

So we're not attached to the experiences themselves.

How can we just honor and embody and live freely without being ignorant to any suffering that is happening both within and without?

This particular practice was created through the context of manifestation and really the idea of how can we use the breath to just let go?

How can we take a step back from the things that we want and instead of focusing on attracting them,

How do we focus on embodying who we are so that we can trust what is meant for us will find us?

This practice will consist just of a meditation today,

So please be welcome to join me in your meditation posture.

Be welcome to engage with this practice either lying down,

Seated on a chair,

Or seated in a lotus position.

If you are on your back,

Please make sure your legs are fully extended,

Arms down by the side,

Palms facing up towards the skies.

If you are seated in a chair,

Feet should be flat on the floor,

Hands can either be at the knees,

Palms facing upwards,

Or resting gently in the lap if that's more comfortable for you.

Lastly,

If you're joining us in lotus position,

Please be welcome to ensure your legs are crossed and again,

Hands at the knees,

Palms facing upwards,

Or resting gently in the lap,

Palms also facing upwards.

We'll start here,

Just finding the breath wherever we're at.

Just observing the natural breathing pattern,

No judgment here.

Just coming into this present moment,

Just noticing where we are right now.

Noticing the breath,

Maybe noticing that heart rate.

Again,

No judgment,

Just honoring,

Just holding space.

We'll breathe a little more intentionally now,

Bringing that in-breath down into the heart space,

Pausing here,

And exhaling.

And again,

Inhaling into that heart space,

And exhaling.

Maybe allowing that exhale to drone out a little longer than that inhale.

And again,

One more time,

Inhaling here into that heart space,

Pausing here,

And exhaling.

And in this stillness,

Observing once again,

Observing the breath now,

Its natural rhythm,

Observing that heart rate,

Maybe noticing it seems to have slowed,

Perhaps it's moving with the breath.

And again,

We'll inhale deep into the lungs this time,

Feeling that expansion in the ribcage,

Maybe in that lower back as well,

Pausing,

And exhaling.

Feeling that release.

And again,

Inhaling into those lungs,

And exhaling.

And this time on that inhale,

Allowing the eyelids to flutter close here,

Pausing on that in-breath,

And exhaling.

Feeling that release,

Noticing the space created within.

Again,

Observing that breath,

Observing the heart rate,

Maybe noticing that as the breath slows,

The heart rate slows,

And the mind slowly follows.

Finding peace in this stillness.

And I'm taking a moment here to check in with the body,

Maybe softening any lines in the forehead,

Around the eyes,

Unlocking the jaw,

Allowing the lips to relax,

The tongue.

Pointing that chin just slightly down,

Not completely tucked in,

Just enough so the neck and the spine are in alignment.

Relaxing the shoulders,

Relaxing the muscles in the arms,

And the hands and fingers,

Releasing any tension in the upper back and the lower back.

Feeling the muscles relax from the chest down into the stomach area,

And releasing any tension in the trunk area.

Maybe using the breath here to clear some space,

Inhaling into any areas of tension,

And then exhaling.

You're welcome to repeat that a few times as necessary.

And relaxing any tension or those muscles in the thighs and hamstrings,

Unlocking any joints,

Unlocking any joints in the knees,

And releasing any tension in the lower back.

And just holding space here,

Basking in the stillness,

Feeling anchored here,

And just letting go of any tension that you may have in the back of the neck.

And just letting go of any tension that you may have in the back of the neck.

And should the mind start to wander,

Coming back to that anchor,

That anchor here can be the breath,

It can also be that feeling of being anchored into the earth.

It can also be some sort of external sound.

If you're outside,

Maybe it's the birds chirping,

Maybe it's that silent hum in the room here.

These are all anchors to bring us back into the present moment.

And holding this space,

Honoring whatever arises.

And just letting go of any tension that you may have in the back of the neck.

Allowing it to be here,

Not reacting to it.

Just enjoying this presence,

The feeling of the breath moving through the body.

Inviting ourselves to consider,

To reflect,

To challenge ourselves.

To embody the state of being,

The state of presence,

This calmness,

The stillness,

Both here in this practice and also outside of it.

Can we hold space with it all and trust enough that what is meant for us will find us?

Can we let go of what we believe to allow for life to happen with us?

Can we simply be,

Knowing that we will attract what is meant for us when we are in this state of being?

Can we ride the waves of life and grace and humility?

Can we realize our potential to love extends beyond ourselves,

To love and action around us?

Can we set the ultimate intention behind every sub-intention of love?

Believing in our infinite potential,

Our limitless capacity to support us.

Believing that believing in this infinite potential and limitless capacity is enough.

Can we embody this here and now in the present moment and in all of the moments to come?

Now donning the space,

Tracing the breath.

And coming back to the breath,

Breathing into that heart space again.

Maybe bringing a hand to that heart space,

Allowing the second one to rest on top if comfortable,

If possible.

Breathing into that heart space,

Feeling the breath.

Breathing into that heart space,

Feeling that inhale,

Pressing into the palms,

Exhaling.

Knowing that in this heart space,

Embodying what is here,

Embodying that spaciousness within,

Trusting in the spaciousness within is the seed of non-attachment.

When you are ready,

Please be welcome to allow the eyelids to open,

Slowly taking in our surroundings,

Maybe wiggling the fingers,

Wiggling the toes,

And slowly coming back to the physical world.

Thank you very much for joining me in this practice.

Namaste.
