Hello and welcome to Two Crows Fly,
A motivational podcast where I share poetry or the soul and my inner thoughts.
I am a shamanic practitioner and ecotherapist.
I believe that connecting with Mother Earth and speaking on her behalf is a revelatory moment and our prime function in the world is to be a steward to all our relations.
I hope that you enjoy my innermost views.
The importance of discernment in plant medicine.
Boy oh boy have I been wanting to talk about this for quite some time.
If you've listened to my other recording on plant medicine hopping,
This might also be an add-on to that.
In recent years there's been a growing interest in plant medicines as a way to heal and transform.
This is really a positive development as plant medicines can be powerful tools for personal growth and spiritual awakening.
However,
It is important to be discerning when choosing a plant medicine practitioner.
But before I dive into that,
I'd like to talk a little bit about what discernment actually is.
Discernment is the ability to make wise judgements about what is true,
Right and good.
It's the ability to see through superficial appearances and to distinguish between what is real and what is not.
Discernment is a valuable skill in many areas of life,
Such as relationships,
Work and spirituality.
And here are some examples.
In relationships,
It can help you choose healthy ones and avoid unhealthy ones.
And to keep your eyes open for red flags.
At work,
It helps you identify opportunities for growth and development.
And in spirituality,
To find the fit for you.
And it can help you grow in your understanding of your own faith and make wise decisions.
So,
Here are some tips for developing this discernment.
Be aware of your own biases and limitations.
Everyone has them.
And it can cloud your judgement.
So,
Be aware of it,
So that you can be more objective in your decision making.
Gather as much information as possible.
The more you know,
The better you are equipped to make wise judgements.
Listen to your intuition.
This is the best thing.
Your intuition is often a good guide in making decisions.
If you have a gut feel,
Listen to it.
So,
Discernment is a skill that takes time and practice.
There are many people who offer plant medicine services,
But not all of them are created equal.
Some practitioners have been working tirelessly for years to learn about and safely work with plant medicines.
They have studied with the traditional medicine people from different cultures and lineages.
And they have a deep understanding of the power and potential.
Other practitioners,
However,
Have had little or no training in plant medicines.
They may have taken a few workshops or read a few books,
But they don't have the same level of experience or knowledge as the more experienced practitioners.
I want you to be really careful about this.
Because I have seen so many people go to one ceremony and suddenly they are a practitioner.
This is dangerous.
So,
If you are considering working with a practitioner,
It is important to do your research and ask questions.
Here are some things to consider.
Where did they study?
What lineage was it?
How long have they been working with plant medicines?
What are their protocols for using the medicine?
Do they offer support and integration before and after the ceremony?
This is vitally important.
Ask for references from other people who have worked with them.
And trust again.
Trust your intuition.
And you know what?
Visit their social media pages and see if they are walking their talk.
Do they seem genuine and authentic?
Do they have a positive impact on the people they work with?
Working with plant medicines can be powerful and transformative.
However,
It is important to be discerning,
To choose a practitioner that knows what they are doing.
This is powerful tools.
And they should be used with respect and care.
By being discerning,
You can increase your chances of having a safe and positive experience.
