Take a deep in-breath and just sit a while and listen.
It is within the liminal space that we find God,
Call it what you will,
And it's not always the wild outdoors that we should go and find the spirituality.
There is an opportunity in the centre of the city.
There is an opportunity as you drive your children to school in the morning.
It's in between the spaces when you're sweeping your stoop.
We don't need to get away to the wild spaces to find ourselves and to find our deep ecology.
This is always present within.
The wild is always with us.
That eternal selves of ours lives within us all the time.
There is an opportunity for silence.
And I'm not talking about the hearing kind,
But that deep well within you,
When you are contemplating your life.
You have an opportunity to rise above that small self of your body into your ecological self of this planet and that wider sense of your universal self.
There's an opening all the time amidst preparing dinner for everyone,
Taking your shower,
Dusting the sand off your feet from the beach.
To live a holy life doesn't mean we have to disappear into a monastery.
Living a holy life doesn't mean we have to follow any religion or addicts.
We have to follow any religion or addicts.
A holy life is one that is soulful,
Kind,
Accepting,
Aware of one's own boundaries and limitations,
Aware of one owns humanity and of that blank slate we were once when we were born.
So take a moment today and just observe that you are that expanded self.
