In practice, we can change our perception of reality, and when we move beyond the mind’s old habits, we can open up to trust the new. Tony Samara leads a guided meditation that is focused on counting our breaths, and has several silent spaces, so that we can learn how to change by choosing stillness and consciously communicate with the world. Thank you for choosing one of Tony Samara's meditational tracks today.

You you you Just making sure that you're comfortable You're lying down or sitting on a chair or on a yoga mat.

Just making sure that you're comfortable It's very important to be aware of your posture.

The posture reflects the inner communication of the subconscious.

So if your posture is heavy or constricted or just not supporting a sense of openness then that is somehow the communication that on a subconscious level is being communicated as a reality.

In meditation we can change this perception.

The perception of reality is just a very interesting game that the mind plays.

And when we move beyond its old habits,

The mind's old habits and old ways of perceiving things,

Then we're open to the new.

We can trust the new.

So as you breathe in and breathe out,

Just making sure that your shoulders are relaxed,

Your body is upright,

Your sternum is pointing outwards,

You're breathing in fully into the abdomen,

Fully into the chest and just making sure that the breath is truly one of receptivity.

So you're receiving the sense of yes,

I am open to this wonderful existence,

The cosmos,

All the aspects of life that exist in the cosmos.

I'm open to connecting and receiving the healing energy that is very much part of the symbiosis of life.

You can do this in whichever way feels right.

It can be done through affirmations.

You can affirm that you're part of the cosmos and you're open and receptive to its beautiful energy.

Or you can sit in stillness and just enjoy the integration that happens quite naturally when you come back to your heart.

Breathing in and breathing out,

Deep,

Full breath.

If you do choose stillness,

Which is the way to truly come back to a profound sense of connection,

If you choose stillness,

Be aware that the mind isn't always as still as you want it to be.

So if it gets bored or agitated or distracted,

Then remind yourself you're not the mind,

You're not the body,

You're not the emotions,

You're much more.

As you allow yourself to explore this through the stillness,

Then there are all sorts of subtle communications that happen.

But it is important to be focused within the stillness,

Deep in the stillness.

You can do this by focusing on the out-breath.

Every time you breathe out,

You count one all the way up to 30 and you extend the out-breath.

So as you breathe in and breathe out,

Extending the out-breath,

Deep full out-breath,

And then counting up to 30.

So every breath is one,

Next breath two,

Next breath three.

You do this very slowly with the sense of stillness that you're integrating within your understanding of the cosmos,

Your connection to the cosmos,

Your sense of the cosmos,

Even your thoughts and feelings.

This will create a deeper stillness and a resilience within the stillness so that you're open and receptive to the subtle communication that happens when we come back and gather in this wonderful space of connection,

Stillness,

Equilibrium,

Healing.

Deep breath and continue.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Breathing out.

Deep breath.

Relaxing and extending the out-breath,

Counting all the way up to 30.

If you forget or lose yourself in the counting,

If you forget what number you've reached,

If you get distracted,

And just going back to zero and counting all the way up to 30.

Relaxing into this deep sense of consciousness.

Within the stillness there is a fullness,

Fullness of being,

Letting go as you relax into the stillness.

Enjoying and celebrating the stillness as you extend the out-breath,

Relax on the out-breath,

And gather within this fullness that you discover as you journey within the stillness.

One little steps at a time,

One little step at a time,

Counting the breath,

Allowing the mind to relax,

To enjoy the stillness.

Drifting deeper and deeper into the sense of wellbeing,

The sense of connection to the stillness.

Everything deep within comes back to the stillness.

The mind relaxes,

The emotional body relaxes,

The body relaxes into a state of deep stillness.

As you breathe in and breathe out,

You may wish to spend another few moments in this deep state of relaxation.

Extending the out-breath,

Relaxing the body,

Relaxing the mind,

Relaxing the way that you feel about the world,

The way that you feel about yourself so that you continue to come back to this wonderful stillness deep within your heart.

You may wish to create an intention,

A clear focus for the rest of your day.

To find these moments of stillness in the busyness of life.

Just to be conscious,

Just to be aware,

Just to be mindful whenever you find yourself getting stressed or getting caught in tension or getting caught in the activities of everyday life.

Just to step back and remember this stillness,

To take a deep breath and then to breathe out and extend your out-breath so that you relax and let go.

As you do this,

You create resilience and a very mindful,

Aware way of connecting and communicating to the world.

Thank you.

Coming back to basics. I began meditation years ago by counting and this brought me back to the sweet simplicity of being still, something I often forget by trying to use my meditation time to find “answers” and “delve deep” or whatever. I was completely surprised when the time was up. Thank you. I will bring this with me today as I convey that stillness to my students- even online now.

Soft soothing voice leading a "back to basics" meditation. Felt calm and relaxed afterwards. 🙏
