Dear friends,
Well done!
You've made it through this day with all its ups and downs.
You may not have ticked off everything,
Or anything,
On your to-do list.
You may not have written up a to-do list at all.
That's an idea for another day.
Hopefully you will have had some little successes along the way.
But if not,
Just think,
Tomorrow is another day,
Another chance.
With a little luck,
You will have had only a few setbacks today.
A few failures.
It happens.
But then again,
Tomorrow is another day,
Another chance to begin.
But don't try too hard.
Life is for living.
Remember,
This is not a test in perfection.
Your reasonable best will do just fine.
And your reasonable best will make all the difference.
So take a minute now to relax.
Maybe close your eyes.
Notice your breath.
Notice your presence here.
Your aliveness.
Giving thanks for the gift of this day.
Today,
With its sunshine and showers.
When you stop to think about it,
Being here at all is a magical experience.
The odds against you and I being here,
To enjoy this day,
To enjoy a moment on the stage of life,
These odds are beyond calculation.
So a one minute pause to give thanks.
Welcome back.
So now,
Before you allow yourself to drift off to sleep,
Remember to take note of three things that you should be aware of when you are in bed.
One,
That you should be aware of when you are in bed.
Two,
That you should be aware of when you are in bed.
Three,
That you should be aware of when you are in bed.
And remember to take note of three things for which you are thankful today.
They don't have to be big life changing things.
These are few and far between,
Even if they come along at all.
Best to be grateful for the little kindnesses,
The everyday blessings that surround us even as we sail through choppy waters.
When you drift off,
Let your last thought be a repeated thank you.
The expression recommended by Meister Eckhart more than 700 years ago.
When he told us that if the only prayer we ever said was thank you,
It would be enough.
And it is.
Thank you is enough.
Thank you is so simple and so necessary.
Having a sense of gratitude is the key to happiness.
So may you be grateful.
May you be happy.
May you float off to sleep surrounded by a comforting blanket of gratitude.
With each tomorrow bringing you moments of happiness and above all one gift.
The opportunity to be a light in someone else's life.
Namaste.
Thank you.
Thank you.
