Welcome to the fourth part of our series,
Expand Your Senses with Plant Music.
Spider Plant and I would like to once again invite you to find a plant of your choosing to help you through this journey and make sure you have writing and coloring materials close to capture what comes to you at the end.
We will continue using the plant pronouns,
Ki and kin,
To refer to the plant people and in this practice you will connect with plant smell.
Plants have receptors that respond to a myriad of volatile organic compounds,
Chemical substances produced and emitted by plants in gaseous form.
They are used to communicate from plants to insects,
Animals,
And even other plants and other parts of the same plant.
Kin use these chemicals to pass messages to neighbors,
Warning plants in the neighborhood of catastrophe,
For example,
Using smell to defend kin cells and much more.
You can start by sitting comfortably and slowly closing your eyes as you move your attention ever so slightly to the music of Spider Plant.
Start to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,
Deep and slow.
By breathing in you bring in new energy and when you breathe out you let go of what may keep you from being fully present here and now.
Now bring your attention to every part of your physical body.
You continue breathing deep and slow and adjust whatever it is you need to relax your body from head to toe.
Now release your breathing.
Let it go back to its natural rhythm,
Breathing in and out through your nose.
Connect with your center,
Wherever you feel that is in your body,
And from this place of calmness,
Kindly ask the plant you chose,
Or that chose you,
To guide you through the experience of plant smell.
As you open yourself for this connection,
You receive an invitation from the plant made especially for you.
Go back to focusing on your breath,
But this time without altering the rhythm.
Just pay attention to it as your breath flows naturally.
There are so many chemical signatures in the air that you wouldn't usually perceive,
But now with the plant's help you start to notice them.
What are the smells you can sense right now?
Take a moment to identify them.
Slowly you're becoming more sensitive,
Also to the information that may arrive through the air.
Remember to breathe,
And yes,
Allow yourself to receive information through the smells around you with the help of key.
What can you learn from these stimuli?
What are they telling you?
Now it would be a good moment for you to ask the plant to inspire you,
So that when our practice is over,
You can carry with you this expanded sense of smell that will allow you to receive information from other humans and the world around you in a whole different way.
Take your time to do so if you wish.
Ask the plant.
Take a deep breath as you prepare yourself to end this experience.
Allow yourself to integrate so that you can recall what you have received later.
Still with your eyes closed,
Send your gratitude to the plant who has worked with you this time so openly and graciously.
Receive any last messages the plant wants to share.
When you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Take paper and pen and capture everything that has come to you during this practice.
Let it flow from you directly to the paper with no filter.
You'll have the chance to analyze it later,
With the help of your true nature,
Who can interpret the plant languages used.
Thank you for your presence,
And we'll meet again soon for the fourth part of Expand Your Senses with Plant Music.
Next up,
Plant Sound.
