Spiderplant and I,
Tigrela Cardenia,
Are very happy to welcome you to the sixth and last part of our Expand Your Senses with Plant Music series.
As usual,
We start by inviting you to find a plant of your choosing to help you through this journey,
And make sure you have writing and coloring materials close by to capture what comes to you at the end.
We will be using the pronouns key and kin to refer to plant persons during this practice.
In the first five parts of this series,
We've been exploring a plant's physical senses that relate to our well-known five human senses.
In this practice,
However,
We'll go beyond.
Plants have about another 15 senses that we know of.
As humans,
We often think of nature as something outside of ourselves,
But the truth is,
We are nature.
Therefore,
We also have the ability to expand our senses to experience the world with greater sensitivity.
Get ready to start by sitting comfortably,
Listening to the music of Spiderplant,
And slowly closing your eyes.
Prepare to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth,
Deep and slow.
By breathing in,
You bring in new energy,
And when you breathe out,
You let go of what may keep you from being fully present here and now.
Now bring your attention to every part of your physical body.
You continue breathing deep and slow,
And adjust whatever it is that you need to relax your body from head to toe.
Now release your breathing.
Let it go back to its natural rhythm,
Breathing in and out through your nose.
Connect with your center,
Wherever you feel that is in your body,
And from this place of peace,
Kindly ask the plant you chose,
Or that chose you,
To guide you through this experience.
We start with gravitropism,
Which relates to the way plants grow in response to gravity.
Stems usually grow upwards and roots downwards,
But there's much more to movement going on in a plant's structure as a response to gravity.
Let Ki show you now how Ki deals with gravitational forces.
From root to leaf,
Ki is now sharing with you a plant's awareness of gravity so you can expand your own awareness of this fundamental force.
Take a deep breath,
And let's move on to electrotropism,
The ability to respond in response to an electric field.
We live inundated by all kinds of electric fields,
Wi-Fi,
Electronic devices,
Power lines.
How do plants deal with so much electrical activity?
Ask the plant,
And receive Ki's experiences with electrotropism.
Is there anything about how plants deal with electrical fields that could help us adapt our human bodies to protect us from harm?
Let the plant share Ki's experience with you now.
One more deep breath as we move on to selenotropism.
It is the property some plants have of turning under the influence of moonlight,
A nocturnal counterpart to the better known heliotropism,
Which is movement stimulated by sunlight.
We tend to be more aware of our behaviors induced by sunlight,
But how is it that the moon influences our behavior and mood?
Ask Ki to guide you through that knowledge now.
Deep breath as you prepare yourself to end this experience with plants' expanded senses.
Again,
There's no rush as you allow yourself to integrate all you've felt,
All you've received,
So that you can recall it later.
Deal with your eyes closed,
Send your gratitude to the plant who has worked with you this time so openly and generously,
Receiving any last messages the plant wants to share.
When you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes,
Take paper and pen and capture everything that has come to you during this practice.
Let it flow from you directly to the paper with no filter.
You'll have the chance to analyze it later with the help of your true nature,
Who can interpret the plant languages used.
Thank you for your presence.
I hope you've enjoyed this six-part series,
Expand Your Senses,
With Tigreala gardenia and Plant Music by Spiderplant.
You're invited to re-practice any individual sense or the whole series with other plants,
Or even the same plant in different seasons to experience more aspects of these complex senses.
I'd love to hear about your experiences.
Leave us a comment,
And if you'd like more,
Check out additional experiences,
Meditations and courses I offer with plants.
