There's such a beautiful association between spirituality and the truth.
However,
It also seems a bit fragile whenever talking about it.
In one way,
It appears very sensitive.
Like,
We could talk about it gently,
But it's very easy to miss the mark.
It's very easy to misunderstand what's being said.
I find that that's fascinating as well.
Right?
Like,
In our human capacity to give meanings to things that aren't really there,
In our capacity to assume to take things personally that are not,
And then when speaking about something that is so precise,
It's very easy to misunderstand.
But in the invitation of spirituality,
I guess in one way,
If we strip it all down and say,
What is it about?
Which is wild,
Because we could say it's about so many things.
As a way of communicating,
We could say,
Spirituality is a doorway into the truth.
Why does that even matter?
Well,
We could say,
Because it's the truth that sets you free.
And then we say,
Free from what?
That's a fun question.
Free from what?
Now,
Look at this.
The truth sets you free.
Free from what?
Does it seem reasonable to conclude that the thing we are being set free from is associated with a lie?
If the truth is what heals?
Which is also to say,
That which is unhealed is made unhealed by a lie,
Or by that which is simply not true.
I wonder if these things fascinate you like they do me.
Because in a way,
It's deeply true that the problematic experience of being human,
Which we might call suffering,
Which we might call feeling or experiencing the opposite of what is desired,
Is made possible by a lie.
And the truth sets you free from that lie,
Which in essence restores what is desired.
I wonder,
In our pain of being human,
In our suffering,
If we are willing to see the lie for what it is.
Like,
Wouldn't that be an interesting reframe?
That if you felt imprisoned,
If you were suffering,
If you wanted to be set free,
Then you would know that the reason you're not is because you're believing a lie.
