There is a sacred truth that heals all suffering.
Suffering defined as emotional disturbance.
The absence of what our heart and soul longs for,
To feel separate from that.
It is the truth of life that heals.
I feel like this sort of space is very different from a traditional educational talk.
Because for me,
This is very meditative.
Where we are invited to drop into something.
Which opens something up on the inside of what we are,
To receive what is already there.
In contrast to,
We show up and we say,
Okay,
I'm here to learn something new.
Which,
You know,
Has its part and maybe that happens here.
But for me,
These things that I speak of.
.
.
It's more about remembering something very ancient.
We are seeing something that has always been true.
But in the busyness of our lives and in the chaos of our minds.
We either just can't see it or we forgot.
And so this is a great space of remembering.
And here's what I find beautiful about this and granted there's a spiritual undertone to this.
Which in a direct way is to say the truth sets you free.
And that is that within this brilliant design of life and being human,
There is a sacred truth.
That heals all sufferings.
Suffering defined as emotional disturbance,
The absence of what our heart and soul longs for,
To feel separate from that,
It is the truth of life that heals.
And so this space is there to help us melt back into that truth.
Rather than thinking that what we crave or the answer is somewhere out there in the world.
We recognize that it is right here,
Right now.
And it is always with us.
And so these moments are a time to come home.
Essentially.
And we talk about many different topics,
Which are really just an excuse to be here and be present.
And the topic today,
I don't know what it's going to be officially called,
But.
.
.
It's gonna have something to do with dealing with difficult people.
Relationship dynamics.
And I'm not even quite sure about which direction we're going to go.
But I do recognize what feels most important to start with.
And that is sort of a foundational understanding.
About what's going on in the human experience.
As it relates to our emotional lives.
And so often when we deal with other people,
There are lots of emotions involved.
And so.
Let's just take a tiny step back.
And ask ourselves,
What's really going on here?
As it relates to these emotions that I'm having.
Because the fundamental misunderstanding,
And forgive me because I'm going to repeat myself.
But the misunderstanding is that my emotions are responding to what's happening.
Rather than a deeper truth that sees,
My emotions are responding to how I am perceiving.
My emotions are not responding to the circumstance.
They are responding to how I see the circumstances.
Which is quite beautiful.
Because as it relates to our desire to move through life,
Let's say in a way that's emotionally grounded,
The more you understand that your emotions are tied to perception,
You see that you are not an emotional prisoner to the world or other people.
Granted,
We have lots of misunderstandings and confusions that really wants to blame other people for our emotions.
That's fine.
That's human.
But fundamentally,
It misunderstands the nature of emotion or the mechanism of how these things actually unfold.
And like I mentioned,
To see the truth of these things,
In some way or another will invite a greater balance to our emotional lives.
Maybe not the balance that you want,
Immediately,
But it'll show a path that points in that direction.
And what else we need to potentially understand.
Is the point of our human journey.
Because if we misunderstand the point,
Then we take that misunderstanding into all of these elements of our human journey,
And we,
We could say,
Distort the interaction.
Like for example,
Playfully speaking,
If I go into a relationship and I think the point of this relationship is that the other person make me happy,
Then that's going to present a very difficult dynamic because it's not in alignment with the truth of the purpose.
It's like we're trying to superimpose a purpose that isn't in alignment with the truth of relationship.
And so the more clear we understand the purpose of life as it relates to being a human being,
Then navigating the human experience becomes a little bit more effortless.
Now understand,
I'm speaking to this using silly words,
And we don't all speak the same language,
Meaning we have different backgrounds,
We have different conditioning.
Some people love it when I use the word God.
Some people are repulsed by it.
Doesn't really matter because the words are not the point.
My intent is to use these silly words to somehow communicate a message.
That helps you look beyond the words.
So as it relates to the purpose of life.
How can we illustrate this?
Well,
Let me ask you this.
If you could summarize.
The one thing you want most in life.
What would it be?
And it could only be one thing.
What is the greatest longing in your heart and soul?
What is the thing you've been hoping for most throughout your whole human journey?
What are you looking for?
What is the sincerity of your desire?
Now granted,
If we ask a thousand people,
We might get a thousand different answers.
But underneath those answers,
They all point to the same thing.
And we might narrow them down to something like peace,
Calmness,
Wholeness,
Freedom.
Do you see the common theme here?
They are ultimately pointing to an internal state of being.
Even if we were to say,
I want to have a billion dollars,
We could say,
Okay,
Why?
So I can be in this moment and relax.
So you see this,
That even if we were to long something on the outside,
Ultimately we only long it to gain access to something on the inside.
So as it relates to the deepest purpose of the human being.
There is a longing for something within.
There is an attempt to win.
Connect with something inside yourself.
And the landscape of being human.
I guess from a certain lens or perspective.
Is there to help you fulfill that call.
And again,
This goes into a lot of potential rabbit holes we could journey down into,
But.
.
.
I want to make the case that Everything that you encounter on the surface of life is fundamentally in service of helping you fulfill that purpose.
We can say,
In a manner of speaking,
What you encounter is educational curriculum.
To help you align yourself with what it is you most soulfully crave.
Furthermore,
To go even deeper.
And I'm fast forwarding through this.
These elements that we crave.
Peace,
Freedom,
Love,
Calmness,
Even forgiveness,
Presence.
These are all natural byproducts of seeing the truth of what is.
Such is the classic phrase,
The truth sets you free.
Now,
Depending on where you are in the journey,
I don't know to what degree you can see that.
But it's the premise of pretty much everything I talk about.
That the goal here isn't so much to get what we want in the world so that we could feel a certain way,
The playful agenda is to see what is actually real and true and then what you really want is a natural byproduct.
Of seeing what's true.
It reminds me of.
A biblical quote and I don't know which one it is or any of that,
But it's something to the effect of seek first the Kingdom of God and all of these other things that you want will be given to you.
And it's effectively saying the same thing.
See the truth of life and what your soul longs for will be given.
And so this is how.
I'm going to approach this topic of dealing with people.
The traditional approach or the common approach.
Has a flavor of how can I manipulate this other person?
To be how I want them to be so that I can relax.
And do you see how that is in contradiction to what I just said?
The initial assumption is if I want to be at peace,
Then I need other people to be a certain way.
If I want to feel enough.
Then I need to collect X amount of XYZ.
Which is very much related to my liberation is in the world.
I need the world and other people to be a certain way if I'm going to have what I want.
This,
In some manner,
Playfully speaking,
Turns us into a tyrant which tries to control and manipulate the world.
So that we can have what we want.
And it still doesn't work.
And there's the beautiful realization that.
.
.
What you actually want is already within you.
And the only way it is not experienced is because we are not recognizing and are not in alignment with what is actually real and true.
And so this inquiry in dealing with difficult people or exploring relationship dynamics,
Is 100% not about How can I manipulate other people?
Rather,
It is 100% about.
How can I see more clearly what's actually going on?
And then align myself with the truth of what's going on.
Recognizing that that is the real pathway.
To what it is that my heart craves.
And as we do that,
We're going to have to navigate a lot of our misunderstandings,
Which are convinced that what we want is in the world,
Which is understandable.
We're human beings.
And so I'm not in any way suggesting that.
It's wrong that you might want somebody else to be a certain way,
Or you might want a particular outcome.
That's perfectly fine.
The deeper question is,
What's really true?
