Hello friends and welcome to this Lectio Divina on Psalm 13.
As we begin I invite you to settle,
To find that still space within.
Letting go of the day so far and of what's to come.
Knowing that all that is required is to be here and now.
That in these moments all other demands have fallen away and you simply find yourself here in this moment.
Allow yourself to be held and supported in your chair.
Take a few deeper,
Wider breaths.
Allowing the burdens to fall from your shoulders.
Giving yourself permission to let go and to simply be here.
I'm going to read Psalm 13 three times.
This first reading is simply a way of letting the words find their place.
So welcome them as a spring rain without attaching to any in particular.
Simply let them come to you as a gift.
How long my beloved will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I bear this pain in my soul and live with sorrow all the day?
How long will fear rule my life?
Notice my heart and answer me,
Oh my beloved.
Enlighten me lest I walk as one dead to life.
Lest my ego fears say we have won the day.
Lest they rejoice in their strength.
As I trust in your steadfast love,
My heart will rejoice.
For in you is freedom.
I shall sing to the beloved who has answered my prayers a thousand fold.
Come,
Oh beloved,
Make your home in my heart.
And on this second reading,
I invite you to notice any words or phrases that capture your attention.
And on this third and final reading,
I invite you to be with those words or phrases that stood out to you.
To let them bring what you need.
To invite,
To stir.
Notice what goes on within as you give yourself to those words and phrases.
Let them come as a gift and bring their offering.
And let any response come forward in you towards them.
How long,
My beloved,
Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I bear this pain in my soul and live with sorrow all the day?
How long will fear rule my life?
Notice my heart and answer me,
Oh my beloved.
Enlighten me lest I walk as one dead to life.
Lest my ego fears say we have won the day.
Lest they rejoice in their strength.
As I trust in your steadfast love,
My heart will rejoice.
For in you is freedom.
I shall sing to the beloved who has answered my prayers a thousand fold.
Come,
Oh beloved,
Make your home in my heart.
I pray that as you leave this Lectio Divina that you will know the beloved making their home in your heart.
May you go in love and grace filled with hope knowing that you are held in the heart of your beloved always.
Blessings to you my friends,
Until next time.
