Transcript

We will practice this meditation sitting in a chair.

Sit in the chair upright and plant your feet on the floor.

Imagine there are roots connecting you to the earth.

Sit up tall and elongate your spine like a beautiful oak tree bending freely in the wind yet bound by its trunk.

Close your eyes or simply turn your gaze downward and visualize that oak tree.

Notice the sensations in your body.

Scan from the crown of your head all the way down to your toes.

Now check in with the breath.

Is it short and shallow or long and steady?

Wherever it is,

Just notice it.

Then begin to elongate the breath.

Inhale from the base of your spine all the way to the crown of your head and exhale from the crown of your head all the way back down to the base of your spine.

A third time on your own breath.

Then let yourself be in the stillness.

Weather any storm emotionally,

Spiritually,

And physically that may enter and pass through you.

Take a few more breaths.

Breathing from the base to the crown and back again.

Rest with the breath in silence and calm for a couple more moments.

Come back to the visualization of the tree.

It's very,

Very,

Steady,

Strong,

Secure,

Rooted,

Yet freely flowing in the wind.

Then slowly open your eyes,

Ticking in your surroundings.

Anytime you're feeling ungrounded,

Just close your eyes and visualize that oak tree.
