In this meditation inspired by Eckhart Tolle, we'll use the question "what is my next thought going to be?" to observe our train of thinking, acknowledge and release thoughts, and relax into a rhythm where there's more space in between the thoughts -- effectively slowing or "stopping" our mind. If you enjoyed this, be sure to check out Tolle's books "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth."

Hey,

I'm Cyrus.

Welcome to this short meditation to help you slow down your mind and maybe even stop it entirely for a brief period of time.

This is a great way to get clarity,

Boost awareness,

And let go of stress.

Be sure to stick with this session all the way through to the end to really get into a rhythm with it,

And you might be amazed at how you feel by the end of this session.

It's inspired by a question from author and teacher Eckhart Tolle.

So if you enjoyed this,

Be sure to read his books,

The Power of Now and A New Earth.

Without further ado,

Let's get into it.

You can do this with your eyes open or closed,

Whatever feels intuitive,

And finding a relaxed,

Comfortable position,

Sitting upright in a chair or lying down.

Now.

Now that you're comfortable,

Become still and commit to that stillness,

Letting your breath flow freely.

You might even choose to take a deep breath into the diaphragm and really let go of stress on the way out.

And now ask yourself the question in your mind or out loud if you want,

What is my next thought going to be?

And observe closely.

If a thought comes up,

That's OK.

If it doesn't,

That's also OK.

But if it does,

Notice what the thought is.

Take a moment to acknowledge it non-judgmentally.

And release it by just letting it drift off like a cloud.

And now ask yourself again,

What is my next thought going to be?

Wait and observe closely.

Notice if one or many or no thoughts came up,

And if a thought or several came up,

Acknowledge them.

Choose to release them.

And take a deep breath in and release all tension from your muscles.

Allowing things to fall effortlessly into a more relaxed state.

And from this more relaxed space,

With your mind floating a little bit more effortlessly and openly,

Ask yourself again,

What is my next thought going to be?

And observe closely,

Without expectation.

Once again,

Finding a rhythm now.

Acknowledge.

Release.

And just bask in that feeling of relaxed,

Alert awareness without thoughts.

If thinking has returned,

That's OK.

Just notice it and ask yourself,

What is my next thought going to be?

Acknowledge without any judgment.

Choose to let go of it.

Allowing it to drift off like a balloon into the sky.

Take a breath.

Release further into relaxation and a blissful chillness.

Enjoy that vibration of energy throughout the body for a moment.

And ask yourself one final time,

With zero expectations,

What is my next thought going to be?

If anything came up,

Just notice it.

Acknowledge it.

Release it almost effortlessly.

And just enjoy and simmer in this space of mostly thoughtless awareness and full presence for a few moments.

Take a moment to see and feel yourself consciously carrying this space and energy that you've cultivated with you into the rest of your day,

One moment at a time.

Feel yourself nurturing this delicate but powerful rhythm of relaxed awareness.

As you slowly,

At your own pace,

Start to move back into the physical space around you when you feel ready.

If this helped,

Be sure to practice it regularly to create the best results and benefits.

And feel free to leave a like,

Make a donation,

Ask a question,

And I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
