Hello,
Welcome to Sky Gazing Meditation.
This practice can be done indoors or outdoors.
If you have a chance to be outside or look at the window,
Feel free to do so.
Otherwise,
It's okay to be in a room too.
Sky Gazing is a way to feel release from the narrow confines of the personality or ego.
It connects a person to the vast,
Expansive,
Clear,
Open space of awareness that is their authentic nature.
It's about how we learn to relax,
Let go and let be in the natural state of things,
Just as they are.
The sky represents the element of expansive space.
No one can exactly say where it begins and ends,
Like our awareness.
This practice leads us into a way of being that is in perfect harmony and oneness with nature,
Including everything and everyone around us.
And with our own true nature too.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable seated position,
Either in a chair,
On a floor or on a cushion.
Feel your back straight without making it rigid.
You may rest your arms on your thighs and keep your eyes open.
Now,
Bring your awareness to the outbreath.
Just notice how the air feels as it leaves your body.
Let the inbreath occur naturally without paying any special attention to it.
Lastly rest your gaze on your surroundings without straining your eyes in any way.
Allow them to be soft and open,
While having the half of your attention still on the outbreath.
Just notice the colours,
Shapes,
Textures.
If you are able to,
Lean back and begin to look at the sky.
But if you can't,
You may close your eyes,
Then begin to imagine a clear blue sky.
Whatever thoughts come to your mind,
Just be aware of them without trying to get rid of them or suppress them.
Not any thoughts,
Emotions or physical sensations pass by like clouds in the sky.
We can't control what's happening around us,
But we can control our response.
And it begins by being aware of ourselves.
For just this moment,
Relax into a feeling that there's nothing to do right now,
Nothing to figure out,
Understand or achieve.
Be present,
Attentive and aware.
Now simply start dropping everything.
Little by little,
Settle naturally and rest at ease.
And in and out deeply and slowly,
Letting go a little bit more with each outbreath.
Follow any thoughts,
Feelings and tensions that arise to dissolve into the sky.
Just release them completely.
Everything unfolds in its own time.
So let your mind and body quiet down naturally by themselves.
Now gently begin to bring your attention to your breath.
Inhale and exhale.
Before we finish up the meditation,
Give yourself a little stretch.
