Gratitude is a positive emotional state in which we recognize and appreciate what we have received in life.
In positive psychology research,
Gratitude is strongly and constantly associated with greater happiness.
Gratitude helps us feel more positive emotions,
Relish good experiences,
Improve our health,
Deal with adversity,
And build strong relationships.
Because if you are grateful,
You act out of a sense of enough,
Not of a sense of scarcity,
So that you create your own serendipity and you are willing to share the happiness you built within you.
The purpose of this practice is to become aware of all your blessings that make you more grateful.
Let's begin by sitting upright in a comfortable,
Stable position where you feel fully supported and your back,
Neck,
And head are straight or you can lay down on your back in a comfortable place.
Shallow your eyes to gently close or lower your gaze down.
Take a slow,
Deep breath to bring yourself to the present moment and begin the process of feeling more peaceful and centered.
Breathe in and breathe out.
Notice your belly expands as you breathe in and gets smaller as you breathe out.
Now let go of any thoughts of memories,
Plans,
Associations,
Anything other than being here.
Just breathe into those thoughts and as you breathe out,
Allow the thoughts to flow out with the breaths and allow yourself to be here.
Now start to recall all the things you are grateful for,
No matter how big or small they are.
You might be grateful for your health,
Your loved ones,
The sunshine touches your skin,
Or your job.
Perhaps a kind gesture that you have received so far from a stranger.
You find something different each time and repeat the mantra I'm grateful for.
Even see all the difficulties that you faced as blessings and realize how they have made you stronger and wiser.
Soften your heart by allowing it to get filled with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for everybody,
Everything and all situations in your life.
Now gently come back to your breath,
Breathe in and breathe out.
Before we finish the practice,
Perhaps you can make a small commitment for savoring the moment and bringing gratefulness by stepping outside of an experience to reveal and appreciate it in your daily life.
Just take a moment to make your commitment here,
To be more open,
More grateful and appreciate the small things.
And when you feel ready,
Slowly open your eyes and put a little smile on your face for everything you have.
