This is a podcast talk about intuition and guidance. I share with you some of my process in birthing songs, and becoming a channel for consciousness to come through, in the hope it will help you to access a deeper level of intuition in yourself. By opening up more to your higher self and allowing all the gifts and beauty that are coming through you to come through, you enrich both your own life and the life of others.

So hello and welcome to this episode three of series three of the Universe Podcast.

So today I wanted to speak to you about trusting your intuition and trusting the information that is coming through you to be expressed.

So this is relevant to all people but particularly relevant if you are somebody who is a creator,

Who is an artist,

Who is a musician or who is wanting to develop this part of yourself or a writer.

Really I believe that everybody is an artist because the act of life is an act of creation.

Every single day we're creating our life,

Our experience based on our thoughts and our emotions,

Based on the connection of the inner world and the outer world.

So essentially I believe everybody's an artist but if you are consciously bringing something into the world,

Bringing it from let's say the unconscious to the conscious,

The unmanifest to the manifest,

It's really important to trust your intuition and to trust that what is coming through you wants expression in the world let's say.

So to put it in a more mystical way this is a process of becoming a channel and I believe that all artists and creators of any kind would have experienced this at some stage or another in their creative journey and maybe they would call it,

Name it in another way but I believe it's a universal experience.

So really what it is is the small self or the ego self,

The self which is worried about how you're going,

Constantly comparing and contrasting you to other people,

The self that's living in the energy of competition and survival is the small self.

So the process of becoming a channel is letting go of that small self so that your higher self can take over and that higher self is it's more it's the more cosmic self and really I believe in my experience that it's consciousness itself so it's not it's not a personal it's not about me or you it's the consciousness that's manifesting through you as a channel and this is an amazing experience and it's a beautiful state to be in and I particularly I my intention is to be in this state of being as much as possible but particularly in when I'm creating something so in the creative process this is what I aim this is the state I aim to be in so it's a it's a practice of letting go of the small self and opening up to what consciousness wants to share with you let's say what consciousness is using you as a channel for to manifest something in the world.

So I was reflecting today just on my process over the last year I took the opportunity of the COVID the COVID situation to really dive deep into my creativity and to birth my first musical album and also a calendar that I made for this year based on 12 paintings that I did so it was an intensely creative year for me and I wanted just to share with you some of my learnings during this process in the hope that they will help you in your creative process and in your life in general.

So the songs that are on the album some of them would just come to me as just kind of fully formed songs like floating through the air and I would catch them and then others would be a process of me deciding I would like to write a song today and opening up to what might be there for me to express so sometimes it feels effortless and magical and other times I make a more conscious intention to bring something through but one of the songs is called Breathe in My Sunshine it came to me in this way of just like an energy that was floating past and I caught it and downloaded this song and I had it written down and in my mind for quite a long time before I actually recorded it and I remember going through this process of wondering whether this was a good or a worthy song whether this song really wanted to take form and shape in the world and during this wondering I did things like I shared the song with a friend I remember I was swimming at the beach in Bali where I live most of the year and I sang this song to a friend of mine a fellow musician and kind of wanting some kind of feedback I guess maybe some kind of affirmation or approval that this was a great song and worthy of me doing the work that it would take for me to bring it into its full manifestation and I remember at the time he was like yeah nice and that to me did not feel like enough of an affirmation that I was looking for I didn't really feel like enough so I still left the song languishing I didn't do anything with it for quite some time and then slowly over time I kind of realized that what I was doing was seeking approval from the external world in the form of this particular person or anyone else that I may have shared the song with seeking approval for bringing forth what was coming through me as a channel as consciousness so as the energy of life itself that was coming through me in the form of this song and I was really even at the point where I wasn't going to bother with this particular Breathe in My Sunshine song because I came to the conclusion that maybe it wasn't quite good enough maybe it wasn't worth sharing maybe was just something to throw away something to receive and put in the recycling box if you like and I'm glad that I didn't do that so this song now is one of the six songs on my universe EP and over this process of probably about two years from catching the song to seeking approval for it through different external sources to finally deciding this was a worthy song because it just was I didn't need anybody else's approval to working on the song and developing it and bringing it into the form that it now has I understood that it was almost like I was betraying that life force or that consciousness if you like by not just fully accepting this beautiful gift that had given been given to me and that was coming through me for me to give to others for second guessing everything for questioning everything for doubting everything and for needing external approval it was like I was not trusting in the in my higher self and not trusting in consciousness which is manifesting through me in the form of this song and there's nothing wrong with that in principle you you know maybe thousands of messages are coming through us every day we don't have to turn them all into a song we don't have to accept them all but if we are if we have a tendency of second-guessing and questioning and doubting and blocking then this can become a mind habit and we can can end up blocking the beautiful creations that are coming through us that want to have a life out in the world through the channel that is us and that would be a sad thing obviously because that would mean that all the people that this creation that's coming through you for would miss out on the gift of that creation so what I've learned through this process of firstly the approval-seeking and then the allowing and then finally the developing and working on this song to give it its full form out in the world is really just that I need to trust a lot more I need to trust that life is leading me in the right place and that the the gifts that come through me the songs that I catch the paintings that I want to paint poems that I want to write they're coming through me not just for me but but for other people so if I'm going to block myself as a channel and I'm going to not allow those things to come through and I'm actually denying other people the gifts that they may receive from these offerings so I guess what I'm saying is it's so important to allow what once come wants to come through you to come through and it is I think it is quite a process to sort of come more and more into the space of allowing allowing your full expression but I think yeah it's it's really important to do whatever you need to do to get your small ego self out of the way and allow whatever is coming through you full expression in the world because ultimately it's coming through you for others and you may have no idea who it might be fully destined for you might not have no idea who is going to be affected by your work your creative work whatever it is but I guarantee you that people will be and that it is coming through for more people than you so trust your intuition and work with it as much as possible this is my practice now just to really try and be as open a channel as I can be and allow all the things that want to come through and then do the work that I need to do in order to give them the the form that they need in order to be fully manifest in the world so essentially to me this is what intuition is it's literally just opening opening deeply to the universe and becoming a channel letting go of the ego self letting go of the small self and becoming an open channel for expression for whatever wants to come through you and if you think of it in this way then it's more about letting go of any blockages than about consciously doing your law of attraction manifesting kind of of work so I like to see intuition in this way as it's it's literally just opening to the channel which is which is yourself and allowing the divine guidance of your higher self of the universe to come through and and make manifest through you so I hope this has been helpful for you and I as I said it's it's particularly relevant to people that are creating things like artists but it's our life is our creation so it's relevant to whatever it is that you are doing or creating manifesting in the world thank you for listening keep following the wisdom of your heart and the
