Good morning.
Today is a new day,
A fresh new opportunity to make this day whatever you want it to be.
Starting your day by taking a few moments to breathe,
Center yourself and get grounded will help you bring more ease and flow into the rest of your day.
Begin this meditation by sitting up either in a chair with your feet planted on the ground or cross-legged somewhere comfortable.
Be sure to sit with your back straight and your chin slightly down to align your spine.
Start to notice your breath,
Breathing in and out with ease and flow.
Feel your feet on the floor or the weight of yourself on the surface supporting your sit bones.
Feel the connection that you have to the ground below you.
Start to take a few deeper breaths in through your nostrils and out through your mouth.
Begin to imagine roots growing from your sit bones or your feet into the ground below,
Like an ancient tree expanding itself and its many vines into the soft soil of the earth.
Feel your roots growing deeper and deeper,
Expanding down into the soil and implanting you firmly but gently into the surface below.
On your next breath in,
Slowly raise your arms above your head,
Stretching your branches and soaking up the energy and power of the morning sun.
Exhale bringing your arms back down,
Feeling the wind as it dances through your leaves.
For a few moments,
Let go of any thoughts about the day ahead of you and just let yourself be supported in the gentle embrace of the ground beneath you.
If you find yourself getting distracted by thoughts,
Repeat this to yourself,
I am grounded and I am rooted.
Breathe effortlessly for the next few moments on your own.
Slowly start coming back into your body.
Take one last inhale,
Raising your arms above your head and exhale out,
Bringing them back down to lay your hands face down on the top of your legs.
Feel the comforting connection of your hands on the top of your legs.
When you are ready,
Open your eyes and say to yourself one last time,
I am grounded,
I am rooted.
I will go about my day with ease and flow.
Take this feeling with you into your day and at any time you are feeling any uneasiness,
Repeat that affirmation to yourself.
Today is a great day.
