This guided exercise is designed to be light and fun. If you are feeling ungrounded, this meditation can help ground you. Another benefit of this meditation is its ability to help you lighten your mood. You may even end up smiling a bit while listening to this meditation. In fact, it might even be encouraged! Not all meditations have to be somber. This is your chance to play in the sand. The background music is water hitting the shore with music, including wood flutes.

Allow yourself to get comfortable.

When you feel ready,

Close your eyes.

Take a deep breath and slowly exhale.

Take another deep breath and slowly exhale.

Take a final deep breath and slowly exhale.

Feel your body relaxing.

Feel yourself becoming even more comfortable and relaxed.

With your eyes closed,

Allow yourself to imagine.

You are walking along a sandy beach shore.

You feel the cool wet sand on your feet.

Occasionally you feel the water bubbling up around your feet as it washes to shore.

As you continue to walk along the beach,

Allow yourself to absorb your surroundings of the beach.

As you continue walking,

You notice a bright colored piece of plastic up ahead.

Go ahead,

Go investigate.

As you come closer to the plastic,

You realize it is a small plastic bucket with a shovel.

You look around however the beach is deserted.

You debate about leaving it or picking it up.

As you continue to scan the deserted beach,

You realize how long it has been since you played in the sand.

You gently pick up the small bucket and shovel.

As you hold it,

You think about filling it with the damp sand that is around you.

Before you are even 100% conscious of what you are doing,

You begin to fill the bucket with damp sand.

As the sand comes to the top of the bucket,

You flatten the sand down in the bucket,

Pressing it solidly in.

You feel yourself begin to grin.

You carefully tip the bucket upside down and tap it gently.

As you remove the bucket,

You are left with a perfect sandcastle.

You grin even more and quickly fill the bucket again.

You are enjoying feeling the sand on your hands and the pure enjoyment of creating something for the pure pleasure of creating.

I'm going to let you create a few more sandcastles on your own pace.

You keep enjoying the feeling of the sand on your hands.

You are enjoying the feeling of the sand on your hands.

As you tip this bucket over and tap it gently,

You know it is the final creation for now.

You sit back,

Grinning,

Enjoying the sight of all of your sandcastles.

You slowly dust off the sand that has dried on your hands.

Still grinning,

You stand up and begin to walk again.

Now there is a spring in your step.

Your mood has lightened.

You feel much more in touch with your being.

And you are ready to come back to the present.

You begin to hear the sounds around you.

You begin to slowly move your body.

And when you are ready,

Open your eyes,

Feeling refreshed,

Alert,

And ready to continue with your day.

Ready to embrace your life.
