From the anxious mind to the peaceful heart,
A guided meditation by Tara Herrick Brown.
When it feels like demons are dancing in your mind,
What happens when you listen to them?
And regardless of what they say,
You can simply tell them that they are not real.
That their screams are simply fears,
Sadness.
Their screams are the ego dying.
And when you hear them,
Simply tell them that they are not real.
You can almost sense shock.
They've controlled you for so long.
And when you finally stand up and face them,
They halt as if in surprise.
And so what then?
Once you call it,
Once you name it,
What then?
When you can hear those screams as echoes of the ego.
When you can tell yourself this is just keeping you locked in the system of separation.
You come to a stillness.
The screaming stops.
You might feel inertia.
You might not know where to turn next.
But that moment of inertia is okay.
That moment of stillness is okay.
You can ask yourself why this stillness feels uncomfortable.
Perhaps it just feels unfamiliar.
Perhaps you've listened to the screams for so long,
They feel like friends,
Familiar.
But when it stops,
And you're in the pause,
What then?
I invite you to be in the pause.
To not worry or figure out,
But to simply witness that you're in the pause.
There's a point between doing and knowing.
When I give myself a moment to pause,
To recognize,
To admit to myself that the screams or the ego that busy monkey mind is distraction from truth.
When I sit in the silent pause,
I feel sad.
I sense deeper feelings beyond but in this moment,
I feel sad.
I know I can sense something much bigger than this sadness.
And this moment,
I noticed sadness.
And that's okay.
Because that's honest.
Perhaps all those screams were distractions from this feeling the whole time.
And when I allowed them to quiet,
I could really hear.
I could hear a deeper calling in my heart to feel.
And this wounding is old.
The sadness is deep.
And it's not important in this moment to figure out why.
It's not important to listen to the story.
For why it's showing up to be really present with the feeling.
Because sometimes the journey deep into the heart must pass through the veil of tears.
The frown comes upon your face,
But you journey inward with courage.
You take one foot in front of the other and walk more deeply through it.
And you breathe.
And you feel.
And perhaps a new sense of stillness arises different than before.
This stillness feels deeper and truer.
It's not about the thinking mind pausing.
But about a journey into the heart.
In a moment of presence.
Awareness of how far you've come.
Awareness of how many trips through this same veil you've taken.
And here you are again and not in a state of exasperation.
Just in a state of presence,
Of knowing,
Of familiarity.
And also newness.
Because each trip you take,
You discover something new.
You take one step closer to that pure heart.
Each time you visit.
And the tears and the sadness fade.
And your sense of presence expands.
And your heart expands.
Your awareness expands.
You are no longer this limited thinking mind racing and dancing and screaming.
But you extend beyond the physical form.
You radiate.
You notice your mind quiet.
Your heart full.
Vast.
I invite you to sit here in this quiet expanse of stillness with me.
This is the true you.
This is the loving expanse of you.
You've touched your truth today.
You've seen your highest self.
This is who you truly are.
This is you in love,
In peace.
Namaste.
