Welcome to this deeply soothing sleep meditation.
In this session,
You'll embark on a calming train ride to the tranquil shores of Dorset's Shell Bay,
A voyage designed to help you release the busyness of the day,
Quiet your mind,
And prepare you for deep,
Restorative sleep.
This is a personal favorite of mine as I grew up in Dorset,
As many of you will know.
You will be invited to soften into stillness,
Feel deeply grounded,
And drift effortlessly into a peaceful,
Healing night's sleep.
So,
For now,
Let's begin.
Soften your body,
And naturally,
Into a place of stillness and ease.
And when you're ready,
Gently closing down the eyes,
And bring your attention to your feet,
Simply noticing them,
Becoming aware of how they feel.
And every time you hear me say the word relax,
Your body will respond,
And you will go down 10 times more deeply relaxed.
And each and every time you hear the word relax,
You will fall deeper and deeper into peace.
Allow your feet to feel soft and heavy,
Resting fully as they sink into the surface beneath you.
Relax.
Now,
Bring awareness to your legs,
From your ankles to your thighs,
And invite them to soften completely.
Let your calves and thighs feel warm,
Loose and fully supported by the ground beneath you.
There is no effort needed,
Just a gentle letting go.
Moment by moment,
Now bring your awareness to your hands,
Resting quietly by your sides.
Let your fingers soften.
Your palms open gently to the stillness all around you,
And your hands,
Growing heavier now,
As though they're melting into the quiet space beneath you.
And the more you let go,
And submit to my subconscious suggestions,
The more you will enjoy the journey.
As you are safe with me,
And you know that my work is meant for your highest good.
Let your shoulders drop away from your ears,
Releasing any weight you've been carrying.
Feel the space around your chest and upper back open gently as you breathe.
There's nothing to hold on to here,
Nothing to resist.
Relax,
Now bring your attention to your face,
The home of so many tiny muscles.
Soften your jaw,
And let your tongue rest gently in your mouth.
Smooth out your forehead,
And feel the space around your eyes soften completely.
Let your whole face grow still and peaceful,
Like it's being wrapped in calm evening air.
Now,
Feel this deep wave of softness spreading through your whole body,
From the crown of your head to the soles of your feet.
Allow everything to settle into stillness.
Breathe,
With each gentle breath,
Feel yourself drifting further into a place of quiet calm.
There's nowhere you need to go,
Nothing you need to do.
You are safe here with me.
You are supported,
And all that's left is to gently let go.
And since you're feeling a little more at ease,
You can come with me on a journey.
For it's late afternoon in London.
The warm hum of the city is beginning to slow.
You step into the spaciousness of Waterloo Station.
Your feet clicking gently on the polished floor,
As golden sunlight streams through the high glass roof,
Like a beautiful cathedral above the trains.
Just waiting to whisk people off to bed.
Just waiting to whisk people off to their desired destination.
Around you,
People move with purpose,
Voices murmuring and footsteps echoing.
Already,
You feel a soft distance forming between you and the busyness of the day.
Your journey is about to begin.
Travelling not only to the southern coast of England,
But into deep,
Vestful.
But anticipation is half the pleasure.
And I know,
And you know,
That you can't wait to get away.
To leave it all behind.
Well,
The day is done,
And this is the time that you have set aside to rejuvenate.
You step onto the train.
You have treated yourself to a luxurious,
First-class carriage.
There are very few people on the train,
And the temperature is just perfect for you.
You find your cozy seat and settle in by the window.
The soft fabric of the seat welcomes you.
You glance out of the train as it begins to move.
Slowly at first,
And then gathering a gentle rhythm,
The great platforms of Waterloo slide past and give way to streets,
Rooftops,
Trees,
And then open countryside.
You feel the quiet shift inside you.
The sense of leaving behind everything that needs to be left behind.
Thoughts and emotions loosening.
The further the train travels on the tracks,
The greater the distance between you and that which no longer serves you.
Out of the window,
The sky stretches wide.
The light softens into amber and rose,
And fields roll by in waves of green and gold.
You pass through quiet towns,
Each one smaller,
Each one gentler,
Until it's just the land and sky and your own deepening stillness.
The motion of the train rocks you gently,
Almost like a cradle.
With every turn of the wheels,
Your breath becomes slower.
There's nothing you need to hold on to now.
Let it all melt away.
Thinking like the rooftops as the train winds south.
Your body relaxes even more.
You notice the little details of comfort.
The way your spine settles into the seat.
Where your shoulders drop.
Of the carriage.
Distant sound.
The train moving through space.
You are being carried.
You are supported.
Eventually,
The sea comes into view.
Just a glimmer at first.
A shimmer of silver between Green Hill.
And then more of it,
Wide and open,
Stretching to the horizon.
You can almost smell the salt in the air now.
And you feel it again.
That sense of space.
Of freedom.
As the train glides to a gentle stop.
You step down from the train.
Find yourself surrounded by the fresh,
Open air of the coast.
The sky is vast above you,
Tinged with gold.
As the sun begins its descent.
You make your way onto the sandbanks ferry.
Just a short crossing.
Gliding over the water like a dream.
And on the other side,
You step onto a narrow boardwalk.
That leads through dunes and wild grasses.
The sound of the sea grows stronger now.
Never loud.
Just a soft and steady hush.
Like the breath of the air.
Sand,
Cool and soft beneath your feet.
Tucked away at the southern tip of Studland Peninsula.
Shell Bay is one of Dorset's hidden coastal treasures.
A serene haven where land,
Sea and sky meet in a dance of elemental beauty.
This idyllic stretch of beach marks the beginning of the stunning Studland Bay.
Lying just across the chain ferry from sandbanks.
Characterized by fine white sand and low dunes.
It offers a tranquil and natural setting.
A peaceful retreat into nature.
You are met with wide open skies.
And the soft,
Rhythmic lull of waves on the shore.
The sand here is fine.
A shade of pale gold.
With a delicate shimmer in the sunlight.
Stretches out in a gentle curve.
Dotted with tiny shells.
Worn smooth and pastel toned.
Echoing the bay's name.
And offering a constant reminder of the sea's quiet artistry.
Behind the beach rise rolling dunes.
Cloaked in tufts of marram grass that sway with the sea breeze.
These natural sandbanks give way to the heathland and nature reserves that hum with wildlife.
In summer,
The dunes and heathland are alive with butterflies.
Bees and rare birds like the Dartford warbler.
As a faint honeyed scent of wild gorse and heather in the air.
Mingling with the salty tang of the sea.
Shell Bay has a wild,
Untouched quality.
It invites barefoot walks along the shore.
Soles of your feet brushing against cool sand.
And the occasional scallop shell.
Or strand of washed up seaweed.
The whisper of the dunes.
Or the hush of the wind.
Weaving through the grasses.
Sunset,
The sky becomes a canvas.
Peach.
Rose gold.
And lavender.
The bay glows with a warm amber light.
The water catches the colors like a mirror.
It is a place that holds stillness.
Where the spirit can breathe.
And feel restored.
As you walk along the bay.
Your gaze is drawn out across the sea.
Where the coastline stretches into something truly magical.
Old harry rocks stand tall and proud.
White limestone stacks.
Rising stark and luminous.
Against the shimmering blues and silvers of the sea.
And beyond old harry.
The isle of white.
Hazy and dreamlike.
As if painted in soft watercolors.
The distant cliffs.
Wrapped in coastal mist.
From this point you feel suspended between two worlds.
The ancient and the ephemeral.
Near and the far.
It is a place to dream.
A place that invites you to pause.
To breathe in.
Breathe in the salt rich air.
And slowly away from the shimmering sea.
Can you find a soft warm blanket.
Waiting just for you.
Among the golden dunes of shell bay.
Cradles your body.
Like a gentle embrace.
The grasses sway gently around you.
Whispering softly in the breeze.
Tucked away in a quiet hollow.
Sheltered and still.
The sand beneath feels comforting.
Like a gentle hug from the earth itself.
Holding you safe and supported.
Feeling your body sinking deeper into the softness.
As the evening air wraps around you.
Like a soothing shawl.
Relax.
The sand beneath the blanket is warm from the day's sun.
You can feel its subtle heat rising up into your body.
Soothing.
Grounding.
You stretch out fully.
Limbs heavy and relaxed.
As the light begins to shift.
The sky above melts from blue.
Lavender.
Peach.
And soft rose.
Painting everything in a hushed golden glow.
Listening to the rhythmic hush of the waves.
Slow and constant.
The air smells of salt and warm sand.
Wild and peaceful.
As the last light of day deepens into twilight.
Quiet stillness.
Settles around you.
The world grows quieter.
Colors dimming into gentle tones of blue.
A single star appears in the sky.
Then another.
The soft hush of nature.
As the water continues.
Your breath slow and heavy.
Each wave rolls in.
Crushing the shore with a quiet hush.
The rise and fall of the waves.
Seems to move in time with your breath.
A peaceful rhythm.
That soothes your whole body.
It's as though the sea is gently cleansing your mind.
Rinsing away the thoughts and noise of the day.
Worries dissolve like footprints in the sand.
Fading quietly as the tide flows in and out.
Each wave brings space.
Stillness.
And now above the darkened horizon.
Begins to rise.
Quiet and luminous.
Glowing softly against the night.
Casting a silver path across the water.
As light feels tender.
Wrapping the sea and the sky.
In a calm embrace.
As you breathe in the fresh salt air.
You feel cleaner somehow.
Clearer.
Lighter.
More at peace.
The water continues to move.
To shimmer.
Like it's whispering to your soul.
All is well.
All is quiet.
You are safe.
In the arms.
Of rest.
All is well.
All is quiet.
You are safe.
In the arms.
Of rest.
