This tapping meditation is designed for anyone familiar with the EFT acupressure points,

And that has a tendency to wake during the night and then struggles to get back to sleep.

It begins with an EFT tapping sequence that will address any feelings about insomnia,

And then moves on to a short mindfulness exercise to further help still the mind and relax the body.

As it is designed to be used right before sleep,

There is no dialogue or ending bell to signal the end of the session.

If you find tapping on the points too stimulating,

Try applying light pressure to each point instead,

And if you become too sleepy to continue tapping on or applying pressure to the acupressure points,

You can release the tapping and just imagine tapping on each point as you repeat the words either out loud or silently,

Or even just let the words wash over you.

You can also choose to use your own words if the wording used doesn't resonate or suit your particular situation.

Before we start tapping,

Tune into your body and notice where you are holding any frustration,

Anger,

Disappointment,

Annoyance,

Concern,

Or anything else you might be feeling about the insomnia.

What does it feel like in your body?

Is there tightness,

Tension,

Constriction,

Heat,

Pain,

Or some other sensation?

And how noticeable is it on a scale of 1 to 10?

Just take note of what you're feeling in your body so that you can check in after each round of tapping and notice any change as we begin to create a sense of calm and relaxation in the mind and body.

We'll begin by tapping on the side of the hand just below the little finger,

And just substitute whatever emotion you are feeling if the word I use is different to what you are feeling.

Even though I feel frustrated because I can't get back to sleep,

I accept how I feel in this moment.

Still tapping on the side of the hand,

And one more time on the side of the hand,

Even though I feel worried about not getting enough rest,

And how this will impact my day tomorrow,

I accept that this is a concern for me.

And one more time on the side of the hand,

Even though I often wake in the night,

And struggle to fall back to sleep,

I choose to value rest in whatever form it comes tonight,

So that I can release any feelings of frustration and worry.

Going to the top of the head,

I can't get back to sleep.

Eyebrow,

Feeling frustrated.

Side of eye,

Feeling worried.

Under the eye,

Concerned I won't get enough sleep.

Under the nose,

Worried that I won't have enough energy for the day ahead.

Under the mouth,

Frustrated that I can't get back to sleep.

Collarbone,

Frustrated that I can't sleep through the night without waking up.

Under the arm,

Frustrated with this pattern of disturbed sleep.

Top of the head,

Jealous of those that can sleep like a log.

Eyebrow,

Annoyed that I keep waking and then can't get back to sleep.

Outer eye,

Feeling frustrated.

Under the eye,

I can't sleep.

Under the nose,

My mind just won't settle.

Under the mouth,

This lack of sleep.

Collarbone,

It's wearing me down.

Under the arm,

It's robbing me of energy for the day ahead.

Top of the head,

It's making me cranky.

Eyebrow,

And making me reliant on caffeine and sugar to get me through the day.

Outer eye,

This frustrating insomnia.

Under the eye,

I just can't get back to sleep.

Under the nose,

Tossing and turning.

Under the mouth,

Feeling the frustration in my body.

Collarbone,

Aware of how this insomnia is making me feel.

Under the arm,

Accepting how I feel.

Release the tapping for a moment and take in a nice deep breath before releasing it in your own time.

Now tune back into your body and notice what has changed.

Now that we've acknowledged how we feel about the insomnia,

We can turn to creating a new belief about our sleep pattern.

Return to tapping on the side of the hand.

Even though in the past,

I held the belief that I struggle with insomnia,

I now choose to believe the story,

That each and every night,

I sleep deeply and soundly,

And wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and energised.

Again on the side of the hand,

Even though in the past,

I held the belief that I wake in the night,

And can't get back to sleep,

I now set the intention,

That each and every night,

I sleep deeply and soundly,

And wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and energised.

One more time on the side of the hand,

Even though in the past,

I held the belief,

That sleep is the only form of rest that is of benefit to me,

I'm choosing to let this old belief go,

And to pick up the story,

That even if I can't sleep right through the night,

I can still get the rest I need in whatever form it comes.

Top of the head,

I recognise that insomnia has been a challenge for me.

Eyebrow,

And this has created anxiety.

Outer eye,

And at the same time,

There is another part of me that recognises,

That it is possible to change this frustrating pattern.

Under the eye,

This old belief that I hold.

Under the nose,

Maybe it is getting in the way of sleeping through the night.

Under the mouth,

Maybe I can start to let go of this old belief,

And replace it with a different story.

Collarbone,

I'm open to releasing this limiting belief.

Under the arm,

And releasing the anxiety around not being able to sleep through the night.

Top of the head,

This limiting belief.

Eyebrow,

I choose to replace this old belief now,

And replace it with the belief that I sleep deeply and soundly.

Outer eye,

I set the intention that each and every night,

I sleep deeply and soundly.

Under the eye,

And that I wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and energised.

Under the nose,

I choose to release any limiting beliefs about my sleep patterns.

Under the mouth,

I choose to value rest in whatever form it comes.

Collarbone,

Picking up the story that each and every night,

I sleep deeply and soundly.

Under the arm,

And that it is okay to just rest peacefully if sleep eludes me.

Release the tapping and take a breath in to the count of three.

One,

Two,

Three.

Hold,

One,

Two,

Three.

Release,

Four,

One,

Two,

Three.

Now tune into your body and notice what has changed.

Have the feelings about insomnia lessened or disappeared entirely?

Are you feeling more relaxed in your body?

We'll now return to tapping on the side of the hand for one last time.

Even though I'm awake and unable to get back to sleep,

I acknowledge the fact that my system is trying to keep me safe.

Still on the side of the hand,

Even though I'm currently too wired to nod off,

I give my body and mind permission to relax.

One more time on the side of the hand,

Even though my nervous system is wound up,

And it is hard for me to relax.

I choose to release anything and everything that is preventing me from getting the rest I need.

Top of the head,

My system is trying to keep me safe.

Eyebrow,

And it feels like it is on hyper alert.

Side of eye,

Letting all parts of me know that now is time to rest and let go of all concerns and worries.

Under the eye,

I can pick them up again tomorrow if need be,

But now it is time to rest.

Under the nose,

It's time to rest.

Under the mouth,

I give all parts of me permission to release any stress I'm holding onto,

So that I can get the rest I need.

Collarbone,

Dialing down any mental activity.

Under the arm,

Releasing any concerns or worries.

Top of the head,

Letting go of all that is getting in the way of rest.

Eyebrow,

Turning off thoughts about the past and future.

Outer eye,

Releasing all the stress from my body with each tap.

Under eye,

Feeling my body sinking deeper and deeper into relaxation.

Under the nose,

Noticing my mind becoming more still.

Under the mouth,

Allowing my nervous system to unwind.

Collarbone,

Observing my body becoming more calm.

Under the arm,

Feeling deeply relaxed.

If you are still awake,

Release the tapping.

Take a deep breath in,

And gently release it in your own time.

We'll now turn to a short mindfulness exercise that will create further stillness in the body and mind.

Allow your mind to release any concerns and anything you are still holding onto from the day.

Let your mind fall still.

Be aware of where you are now.

Feel the touch of your head on the pillow.

Notice the weight of your body on the mattress.

Feel the touch of the sheets on your skin.

Feel the weight of the covers on your body.

Notice the play of air on your face.

Become aware of your closed eyelids.

Notice the taste in your mouth.

And any aromas or scents in your surroundings.

Be fully present.

Now become aware of any sounds in the room.

Let sounds be received,

And let them rise and fall.

Without any comments or judgement.

With the body completely relaxed.

Let the hearing run right out to the furthest and gentlest sounds.

Now simply rest in this awareness and stillness.

Excellent! I’m somewhat familiar with tapping although this is the first recording I’ve listened to from you. I feel less anxious after listening to this this afternoon, I’ll try it tonight if I wake in the middle of the night. The fact that I feel less anxious after just a few minutes is really remarkable to me. I’m going check your catalog and see if you have others that might help me to reduce my anxiety during the day. Thank you so so much.✨💜💜💜✨

This helped me out a LOT. It has been a while since I have done this session. I have been all night cleaning out both my room and kitchen this morning
