Are you a pigeon scavenging around for crumbs of life,
Not thinking you deserve better,
The best?
Are you a pigeon,
A rat with wings,
Shunned by society for being unworthy or dirty?
Do you feel like you don't deserve the best out of life,
Only the leftover crumbs nobody wants?
You,
Like everyone else on this planet,
Are worthy of the best,
Are valuable,
Are unique,
And are special.
Too many people try to make others feel they are not good enough,
Or don't belong,
Or fit in.
Who wants to fit in,
Or be the same,
Not me?
I know I am different,
Unique,
And I am grateful for that.
We all have different likes,
Dislikes,
Thoughts,
Feelings,
Dreams,
Goals,
Needs,
And wants.
No two people are the same,
Not even identical twins.
This is why society is so wonderful and exciting to be a part of,
So we can all share our specialness and make a beautiful world.
You possess qualities that are unique to you,
And those can be used to help others and create a more beautiful world.
If we each used our gifts for the good of others,
Our world would be a harmonious place to live.
But reality is,
There are bad people everywhere too,
That try to disturb this harmony.
The good news is,
Though,
That there are so many more good people than bad,
That if we all try,
We can make a huge difference.
Even on a small scale,
You can help your elderly neighbor,
You can bring canned goods to a food bank,
Or simply hold a door for a stranger that has their hands full.
This in turn begins the trickle-down effect,
That the person or people you helped will feel more inclined to pay these kind deeds forward and make even more of a difference in the world.
It all starts with you.
It all starts with one smile,
One kind word,
One helpful deed,
And the world can change.
Be that person.
Be a dove in a world of pigeons.
