Welcome to today's meditation.
Be free to develop patience.
This will be an eye-opening meditation to help us realize we need to be kinder and more gentle in our words and actions with ourself and with others.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position and close our eyes.
Take a deep breath in and say our mantra B and a refreshing breath out saying our mantra free.
Continue your deep,
Refreshing breaths while you contemplate my words.
Patience is a learned character trait.
Mind you,
Not easily learned.
It takes perseverance over time and many tests of how much one can take.
It needs to be practiced daily and often.
It is very easy to lose our temper or lose our cool over even the smallest irritants in life.
Little things like a traffic jam due to an accident or a long line at our favorite coffee shop when we are hurrying to work.
Instead of being upset over these normal everyday annoyances,
Let's try gratitude to turn it around.
For instance,
In the traffic jam,
Let's be grateful we have a car to drive or grateful we are safe.
Grateful or hopeful that the people involved in the accident are okay.
The list goes on.
The long line at our favorite coffee shop on our way to work,
Just think about all the grateful thoughts in this.
Grateful we have transportation to go to the coffee shop.
Grateful we have money to buy these little luxuries.
Grateful we have a job to go to.
Grateful we are waiting safe and dry in our own car.
Or grateful to simply be alive.
Simply allowing our child to dress themselves when we know we could hurry our day along if we helped.
Of course this would alleviate our weight and not push our patience level,
But at the same time we are robbing our child of feeling accomplished and being proud of themselves for such a simple thing that we allow by practicing our own patience.
Patience is a virtue.
I know you've heard this many times,
But what does that really mean to you?
Virtue is how morally good you are.
So this may mean to you simply that being patient is just a good quality to possess or having a good additive to your character.
Having patience makes you a better person,
Easier for others to be around you,
Level-headed in all situations,
And the one person people can depend on to stay in control and not freak out.
It is a great quality,
But it also takes a lot of practice and time.
It is impossible to escape the many annoyances of life.
Since many things that happen to us we cannot control,
But we can control how we react.
We decide if we're going to confront the problem head-on in a positive way or if we're going to let every little thing control us and take our mood and us down with it.
Now slowly open your eyes and realize all you have to be grateful for and how patience can really enhance your mood,
Your day,
And your life.
Be free to be patient and react to your life in a positive way.
