Hello,
This is Alexandria LeFay of Sylvanosity.
I hope you're having a good night.
Speaking of good night,
I understand it's time for you to go to bed.
Sometimes that is a really hard thing to do,
Isn't it?
You have all this energy,
Or maybe you have all these thoughts swimming around in your head like fish speeding through a fish bowl.
Or maybe you're a little worried about something.
Might be that you wish you weren't alone.
Well,
All these things could be like books,
You said on the shelf,
One at a time.
Let's try thoughts,
Too many of them swimming around in your head like tiny little fish.
Well,
If that's the case,
Imagine those fish as little pictures you can draw on the page of one of your books.
This fish is a thought about the friend who laughed and made milk come out of her nose.
That one would be white with her name,
Or his name,
Or their name.
Each thought turn into a picture of a fish.
When you need a new page,
Turn the page.
And once all your thought fish are swimming on the page inside your book,
Fold it up and put it on the shelf.
Are you worried?
Well,
Those worries could be kites on a page.
Maybe you have a math test tomorrow and you're a little worried about how you might do.
Put four plus five equals nine on a kite and let it fly onto the page.
Maybe you're worried because a friend may not be as good of a friend as you thought.
On a kite,
Right tomorrow will be a new day.
Let go,
Let the kite float to the page.
And when all your worry kites are gathered on the page,
Bump,
Bump,
Bumping on the top,
Close the book and set it on a shelf.
Now on the other hand,
If your body isn't ready to go to sleep just yet,
Hmm,
Maybe you should have a talk with that body of yours.
They say it's best to start with those wiggly little toes.
Wiggle them up and then say night night and fan them down to relax.
Tell them you feel they're so heavy and so relaxed.
Next do your feet and then your ankles and then your legs.
Scrunch up the muscles and relax the muscles and say night night,
Time for bed.
They feel sandy heavy and oh so tired.
Take your way all the way up your body until you get to your own head.
Quiet your thoughts.
Still your mouth.
Deep breath in.
Long blowing breath out.
Still your head with a sand of sleep.
Say goodnight.
Then you can still yourself quiet,
Quiet for as long as you need to.
And if that doesn't work,
Because sometimes it doesn't.
Then you might take a walk into your imagination.
Sometimes that's the best way to fall asleep.
Maybe you'll take a little flashlight with you,
Your favorite.
Maybe you have a special sleeping friend that you can hold in your other hand.
When you take this walk,
You should go where you feel the most calm,
The safest,
The most ready to fall asleep.
Maybe you have a secret place inside your mind that says all those things to you.
I am loved.
I am safe.
And I'm also tired.
Maybe you have a nice warm,
Soft blanket laying beneath a tree.
And you can curl up there and stare up at the stars.
Count them one,
Two,
Three.
Or maybe you're a cloud lover and you're amazed at how on a clear night you could still see the clouds.
And you could imagine yourself floating on one,
Floating ever so light,
So comfortable,
So safe.
And in your mind,
You can float to wherever you want to go,
Straight into sleep.
Sleep is important.
It helps calm our body and recharge it for the next day.
A day that will come soon enough.
For now,
We're going to rest.
Breathe,
Imagine,
And fall asleep.
Good night now.
This has been a LaFay of Sylvanosity.
Have a good night's sleep.
