Are there things that you are carrying that are too heavy? In this meditation, you are given permission to put them down. To write them mindfully in a journal, tear out the page and throw these notions, expectations, emotions, and words into a powerful waterfall that will take with it the emotional attachment you hold in your body. An empowering visualization practice that is helpful in times of doubt, judgment, sadness, fear, and anger.

Welcome to your session today.

As you arrive here in this space,

I invite you to grow quiet with yourself,

To focus on the inhalation of your breath,

The coolness of the air on that inhalation as you draw that breath into your body,

Closing the windows of your eyes and allowing that breath to leave,

To let go.

As you cycle that breath in and out ever so gently,

Giving yourself permission to melt down into your space today.

There's nothing else that demands your attention but being here in this space.

Today in this session,

We seek to let go,

To consider the things that are too heavy to carry,

The weight that is too much.

Comments made,

Things said,

Emotions held.

You don't need to carry it anymore.

On your next inhalation,

I invite you to start to draw to mind a path.

As you do so,

Looking down and recognizing your own two feet standing there,

Making contact with the ground.

Notice if you're wearing shoes,

Maybe your barefoot.

And as you start to breathe from your feet up into your body,

The scene of this place starts to take form.

Colors become more vibrant,

Air becomes cool,

And you find yourself fully arriving there in that space,

Standing there at the entrance of a path.

Completely supported and absolutely safe.

I invite you to start to walk down that path,

Mindfully feeling the ground beneath your feet with every step that you take.

Walking forward,

Drawing in all of the details of what's growing around you,

How wide or narrow this path is,

What grasses grow,

Trees,

Flowers,

Maybe even recognizing if there's something else there.

Animals,

Birds,

Light.

As you continue to walk,

Starting to notice what it is that you can hear and inviting in the sound of water,

Not of a river or the bubbles of a brook or a stream,

But the loud,

Deafening,

Commanding sound of a waterfall.

As you walk forward,

It gets louder and louder,

And all at once off to your right-hand side,

You see an opening in the path,

A clearing,

Walking towards it.

There's space to sit,

Taking a seat there at the edge of this waterfall,

The air growing cool,

The mist coming up and starting to drift over your skin.

Looking down to your left-hand side and noticing a journal and a pen.

As you lift it up,

Open it to whatever page presents itself to you today.

And considering just for a moment what is too heavy.

Is there maybe something that you've been carrying for so long that you can write it down?

A feeling,

A thought,

A word,

A phrase.

What is it that it holds so much weight that it prevents you from moving forward in the way you determine right for yourself today?

Picturing yourself writing those words on those pages,

Seeing your own handwriting start to take form on that paper.

When that feels complete,

Giving yourself permission to rip that piece of paper out of that book,

That journal,

That page,

Folding it up and cupping it in your hands,

Taking another deep breath,

And throwing that piece of paper ever so gently,

Delicately,

Lovingly folded into the waterfall.

The power and force of that water plunge that piece of folded paper down into its depths.

And all at once,

You feel lighter.

You don't need to carry this anymore.

This story,

This narrative,

This trauma,

This pain,

This fear.

Whatever it is that you wrote down,

You don't need to carry this anymore.

Your breath starting to slow as you gaze out at this magnificent and powerful water.

The deep sense of gratitude in your heart,

Returning that journal and the pen to where you found it.

Knowing that you can come back here anytime you need to.

Whenever it's too heavy to carry,

You can walk down that path.

You can take a seat.

You can find the journal and the pen,

And you can write from your heart,

Through your veins,

Into your fingertips and out that pen onto those pages.

And you can throw it away.

You don't need to carry this anymore.

And just as you began,

Allowing yourself to go back to where you started from,

Traveling back down that path,

Mindfully making contact with the ground beneath your feet,

With every step,

Yet feeling different,

Feeling new,

Feeling lighter,

Having let go.

When you find yourself back at the beginning of this path,

Etching the memory of this space onto your heart,

Hands over hearts,

Deep breath in and deep breath out,

Starting to call yourself back home into your body.

One breath at a time,

Starting at your feet,

Wiggling toes,

Waking yourself back up and inviting yourself physically back home.

And only when it feels right to you,

Opening the windows of your eyes,

You don't need to carry this anymore.

Anytime the weight feels too much,

You feel stuck.

You feel that resistance holding you back,

The emotional weight,

The words said,

The internalization of shame or disappointment or fear or guilt,

Grief.

Make your way back here.

Write it down and throw it away.

A gentle and restorative meditation. The waterfall visualization was a helpful mechanism for processing heavy thoughts and feelings.

Nice visualization but I have trouble throwing the paper into the waterfall. It feels like I am littering Mother Earth.
