Hi there,
Susanna here and today we're going to be tapping together to release some of the emotional and physical tension that can come up when you're living with chronic pain or a chronic pain condition.
Now it's really important to say before we get stuck in that tapping isn't a cure for chronic conditions or pain.
I'm not a medical practitioner so please always do seek advice from your health care professional if you have specific concerns or worries about pain.
The tapping is just gently working through the emotional layers that often come with the pain.
So that's the kind of stress,
The physical sensations,
All that tension and anxiety.
And that's really going to help to support your nervous system,
Just calm the mind and body and hopefully offer you some space for relief as well.
Now,
There's been some great studies on EFT and pain relief,
Which you can look up online.
But just one study that was in the Journal of Nervous and Mental found that participants in chronic pain who use EFT experience significant reductions in their pain intensity and anxiety.
So I really hope that this can help you find some relief from those emotions,
Shift how your body and mind respond to that pain and get some ease and comfort from it.
So as we're tapping,
Just a reminder that if you are limited physically in any way,
If any of the points feel a bit awkward or uncomfortable or painful for you to reach,
Then adjust the tapping to suit your needs,
Okay?
And it's okay to switch points if you want to,
And it's okay to just press lightly on the points rather than tapping if that's easier for you.
So feel free to switch things up,
You know,
Make sure it feels comfortable for you.
So let's begin then.
I want you to first of all rate the intensity of the pain you're feeling right now,
Like in terms of how much is this pain bothering me right now.
So just ask yourself that question.
How much is this pain bothering me right now?
So if you need to tune in,
You can do that.
And we're just going to rate that on a scale of 1 to 10.
OK,
How much is this pain bothering me right now on that scale of 1 to 10?
So 10 is it's really bothering me.
It's quite disturbing.
Stressing like it's really impacting me I feel really anxious about it and one or zero you know not really very noticeable it's not really bothering me very much right now.
So just make a mental note of that number because we're going to be checking in again at the end to just see if that shifted at all.
So get yourself nice and comfortable where you're sitting.
You might want to pause here if you want to grab a blanket or make sure you're in a nice comfy chair.
And then we're going to begin with a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And then exhaling when you're ready.
Just allowing in some peace and relaxation.
And then start tapping on the side of the hand and you're going to be repeating what I say out loud or in your mind.
Reminding yourself that by tapping with me you agree to take full responsibility for your own health and well-being.
Happening on the side of the hand.
Even though I'm experiencing chronic pain and it's really bothering me today.
I acknowledge how hard this is.
Even though I live with this pain?
And it weighs really heavy on me.
Every day.
I choose to be gentle with myself right now.
Even though this pain is part of my daily life.
And it can feel overwhelming.
I deeply and completely love,
Honour and accept myself.
Or I'm learning to.
So round one,
Tapping on the eyebrow point.
We're just going to address some of those feelings now.
Eyebrow point,
This pain is really bothering me today.
Side of the eye,
It's draining,
It's exhausting.
I'm so tired of being in pain.
Under the eye.
It makes simple things feel so much harder.
It makes life.
Feel generally harder.
Keep tapping and breathing I know this can feel activating.
Under the nose.
I'm so tired of having to manage this pain.
It feels all-consuming.
Chin points and it's really hard to focus on anything else.
How can I focus on anything else?
Collarbone.
So frustrating having this pain always nagging away at me.
Under the arm and some days are harder than others and this is one of them.
Top of the head.
I wish I could feel some relief from this pain.
Keep tapping and breathing.
And relief from all the other emotions and feelings that are tied up with it.
Eyebrow points.
I feel stuck in this cycle of pain.
And frustration.
And upset.
I feel so angry sometimes.
Side of the eye.
It's hard not to feel discouraged.
Hello.
Wonder why this is happening to me.
Just be gentle with yourself,
Keep tapping and breathing.
Under the eye,
I feel so I want you to say how you feel here so maybe it's I feel so upset or I feel so alone in this or I feel so angry So say how you feel,
I feel so.
.
.
Just let it all out,
Raw and filtered.
The truth,
I feel so.
Well done.
Under the nose.
I just want to feel better.
Karma.
More ease.
Chin points.
Sometimes I feel like I've tried everything.
I wish I could find something that would help.
Collarbone.
I'm carrying so much tension and heaviness in my body.
And I'm so tired.
Just acknowledging how heavy it is to be living in pain.
So let's take a little breath together here.
Inhale.
And then exhale.
Because it can be really hard to acknowledge all this stuff.
You're doing so well.
So just breathing softly,
Just let go a little bit on those exhales,
Perhaps breathing a little sigh of relief if you want to.
Sigh just having expressed some of this stuff.
Under the arm.
This pain is really impacting my mood,
My energy.
My enjoyment of life.
Top of the head but I'm doing the best I can even though it's hard.
I'm doing the best I can.
You know,
You're doing the best you can.
Keep tapping,
Keep breathing.
We're going to move through this.
Eyebrow,
Maybe I can release just a little bit of the tension I've been carrying.
Side of the eye.
Maybe some of this discomfort is linked to stress.
But I can let go all.
So just thinking now about how stress affects the pain.
Tapping and breathing.
May be some of this discomfort.
Is connected to stress that I can let go of.
So can you let go a little bit here?
Let some of that stress go.
Knowing right here right now in this moment You're here,
You're showing up for yourself,
You're breathing.
You're calming your nervous system.
Well done,
Under the eye.
And this pain feels like a tangled up knot of stress and emotions.
Attention!
But I'm open to gently loosening it one layer at a time.
Loosening that bundle.
Under the nose,
I'm open to feeling a tiny bit more relaxed and comfortable.
I'm open to that.
Chin points,
My body remembers how to relax even when I'm in pain.
Collarbone,
I'm gently inviting calm and kindness into my nervous system.
So invite that in.
So as we continue tapping here we're going to tune in a little bit so I invite you to close your eyes here or just soften your gaze if that feels more comfortable to you.
If it's uncomfortable to tap then that's fine just rest your hands on your lap.
Breathing gently and easily.
I don't need to say anything out loud here okay just listen.
To what I'm saying.
And allow yourself to just soften a little bit as you tap or rest and breathe.
I'd like you to just bring a really gentle and soft awareness to an area of your body where you feel pain.
Now if that feels too much for you right now,
That's okay.
Just bring your attention to any place that might feel a little bit tense or uncomfortable instead.
Whatever feels safest for you is just perfect,
Okay?
I want you to just kind of observe with curiosity,
Without any judgments,
And just notice what's happening in that area.
Is there a colour or a shape to that sensation.
Is that sensation quite big or is it quite small?
And where does it begin?
And where does it end?
Like where are the edges of this feeling,
This pain or this discomfort?
Where does it end and begin?
Now we're just going to imagine sending a really warm loving energy to that place which is really soft and soothing and healing.
I'd like you to imagine that lovely warm healing energy flowing from your heart.
You might picture it as a really soft glowing light.
It might be like a tiny shimmering heart or hearts floating from your heart towards that area of discomfort.
Or it might be just an energy,
But I'd like you to give it a colour.
So maybe it's a really gentle pink.
Or a soothing lavender.
Or really calming blue.
What colour feels best for you?
What feels most comforting?
Whatever you choose is perfect.
So visualize this light or those little hearts or the energy just traveling really slowly and tenderly to that area,
Like a gentle beam of love and kindness,
Kind of reaching out to that place,
Reaching out to that pain or discomfort.
It's finding its way to it.
And I want you to really feel that warmth and softness as the healing energy kind of surrounds the pain or tension,
Just easing it and calming it a little bit.
And all those little hearts or the beam of light flows in and around that pain or tension.
And it softly,
Really softly brushes against it like a feather.
Like tenderly kind of stroking it,
Stroking the pain,
Comforting it.
The warmth or energy now kind of permeates right into the pain or tension and it just dissolves it even if just a little bit.
It works its way ever so gently in,
Only with pure love.
There's no fight or push or pull.
It's really light.
Is such care,
Almost like a divine.
.
.
Consideration and compassion.
It's so soft and gentle.
So allow yourself to rest with this loving energy for a moment,
Knowing that you're really giving your body.
This gentle care from your heart.
To that area of discomfort.
Keep sending the love and the warmth abundantly.
As you tap and breathe here just a little bit longer.
Taking gentle breaths.
Well done.
When you're ready,
Just open your eyes.
Have a gentle stretch.
And then we're going to return to tapping under the arm.
I can hold space for both discomfort and relief.
I feel a bit emotional.
Top of the head.
Maybe some part of me is ready to soften.
Eyebrow,
I give myself permission to release.
The tension I've been holding.
So let some of that go.
Side of the eye,
It's safe to let go of the stress I've carried with the pain.
Sorry.
Under the eye,
I don't need to fight my body.
I can work with it.
I can love it.
Be gentle with it.
Under the nose,
I release all the frustration that comes with this experience.
And I know there is so much frustration.
Chin points.
I'm letting go of the heaviness gently and with love.
Collarbone.
I'm creating space in my body for relief.
Under the arm and I'm ready to release what no longer serves me.
Top of the head.
I allow peace to settle in softly,
Slowly,
Lovingly.
Slowly,
Softly,
Lovingly.
Well done.
Let's finish up with some lovely affirmations now.
I am more than this pain.
I am whole and I am enough.
Side of the eye,
I welcome moments of ease,
No matter how small they are.
Under the eye.
My body is doing its best and I honour that.
Under the nose,
I choose to be kind and patient with myself.
Kind and patient.
Chin point.
It's okay to not feel strong all the time.
I'm still worthy of love and gentleness.
You are.
Collarbone.
I welcome healing,
Comfort and peace into my life.
Under the arm,
I trust in my body's ability to shift and release.
Top of the head,
I am calm,
I am safe.
And I am supported.
Okay well done so stop tapping there now take a nice deep breath in.
Lovely expansive breath.
And then when you're ready,
Just exhaling.
Just take a moment to let all that kind of settle a little bit,
Integrate.
I'd like we're now to just going to check in again on that scale of one to ten like we did at the beginning.
So I'd like you to ask yourself the question again,
How much is this pain bothering me right now?
And just notice.
Whether the intensity maybe has shifted a little bit.
Maybe.
The pains changed or moved.
Maybe there's been some physical,
Emotional or energetic shifts or insights.
And remember,
It's okay even if it's just a really small change.
Small changes matter,
You know,
And you can repeat this process any time that you need to find some relief,
Just to give yourself a little bit of self-care and self-compassion.
So be super gentle with yourself today.
I'm sending you lots of love from my heart to yours.
Thank you for being here.
Take care.
