This sessions day is here for anyone who grew up with toxic parents.
Now,
That might look like emotional immaturity,
Unpredictable moods,
Criticism,
Neglect or control.
It's that kind of parenting that leaves really deep marks on us,
Even long into adulthood.
I really get this on a personal level.
I'm the adult child of an alcoholic.
My dad was addicted to alcohol.
Both my parents were quite emotionally immature.
They were very young when they had me.
How much this shapes our relationships,
The way we see the world,
Ourselves as well.
So if you've been doing this work for years and are really feeling the weight of it,
Then you're not alone.
I'm doing this work too and I know how how challenging it can be to start unravelling all of this stuff and start to healing.
So we're going to use this session today to really acknowledge that pain with compassion and remind yourself that healing is still possible.
Even now,
Even after all this time,
We're still learning and growing and healing together.
All right,
So first of all,
I'd like you to just get yourself really nice and comfortable and I want you to feel supported and cared for.
So maybe sit on your sofa,
Make sure you've got a cushion,
A nice blanket to snuggle in,
Have a little glass of water nearby,
Maybe some tissues,
Just anywhere that feels nice and calm and quiet.
If you need some time and space to do that,
Pause the video now and go and get yourself all nice and set up.
And then when you're back,
We're going to begin with a nice nourishing breath.
So breathing in through the nose.
That's grounding into this lovely calm space we've created.
And then just exhaling when you're ready,
Letting go of any stress or tension from the day.
Let your shoulders drop.
And then tapping on the side of the hand,
Repeating after me in your mind or out loud.
And also just reminding yourself today that by tapping along with me,
You agreed to take full responsibility for your own health and wellbeing.
So even though I still carry the pain and frustration.
From my childhood.
It's okay that I'm still healing.
It really is okay.
Even though I sometimes feel stuck and I wonder if I'll ever heal from this.
From these old wounds.
I meet myself today with gentle compassion.
Even though the voices of my toxic parents or my childhood still echo in my mind.
I deeply and completely love,
Honour and accept myself.
Eyebrow points,
All this frustration and hurt.
It's still here after all this time.
Side of the eye all this sadness I still carry so deeply.
Under the eye that voice inside that says i'm not enough under the nose,
This confusion about who I am.
My sense of self.
Chin points,
This feeling stuck like I can't move forward.
Collarbone,
All the feelings that I can't fully feel.
Under the arm,
I acknowledge these feelings and I'm here with them today.
Top of the head,
These emotions are real and I'm safe to feel them.
Just keep tapping and breathing.
I know this can be really activating.
Eyebrow.
There's so much to hold around this.
And it's hard.
Side of the eye,
I hold it all inside Part of me feels like I should be over this by now.
Under the eye and I know how I hold this all in my body.
So as we tap here,
Just keep tapping under the eye.
I'd like you to just notice any physical sensations,
Because we hold so much in our bodies,
So maybe you are feeling tearful,
Maybe you're getting sensations in your body.
If it feels safe and comfortable to do so,
You can close your eyes as you just tune in a little bit,
But if not,
If it's really activating,
Then keep your eyes open,
Okay?
And you can just soften your gaze a little bit if you prefer.
So what we're going to do is we tap under the eye,
Just kind of scan down your body.
And just see if you can find those areas that are feeling a bit activated.
If you're feeling hugely activated just keep looking at me,
Keep tapping.
And this feeling might feel like tension or tightness.
It might feel like heaviness or like a sinking feeling in your tummy.
Or it might just be like a general discomfort,
Like a kind of tugging or a pulling in your chest or your heart.
And sometimes we hold this in our tummies.
In our chest and across our shoulders.
Anywhere,
You know,
Wherever you're feeling it is okay.
Just observing,
We're not trying to change it or tap it away or get rid of it.
We're just acknowledging,
So just breathe and tap as you notice for a moment.
Remember to breathe.
Well done.
So just open your eyes if you had them closed.
Return to tapping now.
Tapping under the nose.
Fez is harsh in a critic.
That won't be quiet.
Keep snagging.
Points,
This sense of self-doubt that whispers,
You're never going to heal from this,
Like you'll never be free.
Collarbone points.
All these stories I believe to be true.
That I'm not enough.
Or that I don't deserve love.
Or that I'm too much?
I wasn't given the space to be a child.
Under the arm.
I wasn't loved as I deserved to be loved.
And that makes me feel really sad.
Just keep tapping.
I know this is really difficult.
You're doing amazingly well.
Top of the head,
I'm safe to feel this.
I'm safe to feel it and let it go.
Maybe not all today.
But just one breath,
One tap at a time.
I can see how my parents acted from their own wounds.
And that is not my fault.
None of this is your fault.
Side of the eye.
Just as their pain and their frustrations.
Are not my fault.
It's not my fault.
Under the eye.
I'm not responsible for their behaviour,
For their parenting.
And whether I forgive anything or anyone is my choice.
Under the nose,
Knowing that forgiveness is for me,
Not for them.
Chin points and I'm learning to really be gentle with myself around this.
Collarbone point.
I deserve love,
Kindness and respect.
Especially from myself.
Under the arm.
I open my heart to self-compassion and healing.
Top of the head.
I'm ready to heal and grow.
Grow around this,
Grow through this.
Eyebrow and I'm releasing some of this anger that I've been holding on to for so long.
Take a breath.
Side of the eye.
I let go of the guilt that doesn't belong to me.
Take a breath.
A lot of this stuff is not mine to carry.
Under the eye I let go of shame and hurt.
And I welcome in gentleness and self-nurturing.
Like the kind of care I needed as a child.
So let's take a couple of gentle breaths here,
Tapping under the eyes.
So just inhaling some of that gentleness and tenderness.
Bring that inhale into your heart.
And then exhaling shame and hurt.
Just let some of this go.
Inhaling the kind of nurturing and caring that you're learning to give yourself.
And then just exhaling any frustration.
And anger.
Oh,
Don.
Under the nose,
I release the weight of my parents' words.
Chin point,
I free myself from the past that no longer serves me.
Collarbone points.
I invite peace to settle in my body,
In my mind.
Knowing that I can re-parent myself.
With tenderness and safety.
Under the arm,
I release and let go.
Take another breath.
Top of the head I allow calm and lightness to fill me.
Okay,
So before we move to the final round,
We're just going to pause here for a really short meditation.
We're just going to take a moment to rest in some lovely healing energy.
So what you can do here is you can tap on your collarbone,
You can place your hands on your heart centre,
Or you can let your hands rest in your lap.
Whatever you choose is just perfect,
Okay?
So don't feel like you have to get it right.
Whatever you choose is just perfect.
I'm going to tap on my collarbone.
So we're just going to begin by taking a few breath.
So just inhaling gently.
Eyes closed.
And exhaling slowly.
Inhaling gently.
Exhaling slowly.
Now I'd like you to imagine a soft healing light just forming in your centre,
In your core.
That can be your heart centre or in your tummy.
Just thinking about what colour light feels most healing to you.
So what colour feels most warm or gentle or supportive?
And this light is like a little seed right in your core and it's just beginning to illuminate and grow.
And as this light starts to pulse gently,
It starts to slowly expand.
And it keeps growing and pulsing with this lovely new healing energy,
This lovely colour that you've chosen.
It's an energy and a light of pure love and acceptance.
So let it grow,
Let it keep pulsing.
And then just allow this light to begin swirling through your body nice and slowly,
Nice and softly.
And with it,
It brings a real sense of comfort and tenderness.
And it begins to tenderly just caress all the places that have felt hurt.
So all those places earlier where we scanned down and we felt that activation,
All those parts that have carried that sense of sadness.
Or longing or pain.
Just let this light move where it's needed most,
This loving light energy of pure love and acceptance gently flowing and swirling around your body.
Soothing and softening and just gently transforming those old wounds with love and care.
Remembering there's nothing you need to force here,
We're just allowing and letting this loving energy that we've created together,
Just let us let it to fill our hearts,
Fill our bodies,
Fill us up from the inside out.
Just take a few more soft easy breaths here as you let that loving light energy fill you up.
Finding all those hidden hearts.
And just sharing that love with them.
Offering.
Those hearts,
The tenderness and the care that you really do deserve.
So allow yourself to be loved.
So I ask you now to invite in and be fully open to more of what you need.
What do you need?
Really let this sense of healing and growth permeate through your body.
Really absorb that love and tenderness into your heart.
Into your cells.
I'll just give you a few moments here to just let that healing light and energy be absorbed.
Where it's needed most.
Well done,
So open your eyes.
And we're going to move now to the final round of tapping.
Well done.
So tapping on the eyebrow.
I'm worthy of love and kindness.
From others and from myself.
Side of the eye.
I choose to nurture myself with patience and care.
Learning to offer myself the love I may have missed.
Under the eye,
I trust my inner wisdom and I trust my feelings.
I let them guide me.
And I'm growing stronger every day.
Under the nose.
I can create healthy boundaries that protect me.
To protect my heart.
I am enough exactly as I am.
Then,
Now,
Always and forever collarbone points.
I can learn to meet my own needs with gentleness.
But also staying open to receiving love.
In all of its forms.
We don't want to close off,
We want to stay open to love.
Under the arm.
Sometimes that love and support comes from unexpected places.
I don't have to do it all alone.
I know when you've been through this you can feel and be hyper-independent but we don't need to do it all alone.
Top of the head,
I'm whole,
I'm loved and I'm healing.
Well done,
Let's say that one again.
I'm whole.
I'm loved.
I'm healing.
Well done,
That was beautiful.
So let's take a nice gentle breath in here.
And exhale.
I'm so proud of you,
By the way.
So just take a moment now to just let all this loving energy really settle in.
Just notice how you feel.
Maybe you just feel a little bit softer or a little bit more open,
Maybe supported or connected,
Even if just a little bit.
Just notice with kindness how you feel.
Thank you so much for tapping with me,
Sending you an abundance of love.
Take care.
Bye.
