Leaves on a Stream Meditation.

This meditation is popular and used during acceptance and commitment therapy but it is an absolutely beautiful mindfulness and meditation practice to support you with overthinking or worry or concern.

So let me guide you through this process and allow you to feel that sensation of release and calm fill your body.

Finding yourself somewhere comfortable to sit or lie down and just gently allowing your eyes to close.

Beginning to connect with your breath and just breathing in deeply and exhaling slowly breathing in and breathing out.

Just gently focusing on the breath allowing the mind to slow the body to begin to relax and I want you to imagine that you're sitting or standing at the side of a stream or river and then in front of you the water is flowing past.

The water is flowing away in front of you.

Just taking a moment to acknowledge any signs of the stream or the river and as you stand listening to the signs of the water you notice beautiful trees line the banks of the stream.

You begin to notice some leaves from these trees gently flowing down the stream away from you.

Leaves of all different shapes and size and colors.

They ripple and bob and flow away.

As any negative thoughts or worries or concerns come into your mind just being aware of what that thought is and then gently placing it on the leaf and watching that leaf float away down the stream or river.

Doing this with each and every worry concern or thought that comes into your mind and doing it for as long as you like until you begin to feel lighter to feel better.

As you acknowledge each of your thoughts you no longer need to hang on to them.

You realize that there's no need to become attached to the thought.

Just gently acknowledging placing it on the leaf and allowing it to float away in front of you.

Noticing that as these thoughts or worries or concerns float away they begin to lose their intensity.

They no longer have strength or power over you.

So placing any final thoughts or worries or concerns on leaf as they pass.

Breathing deeply.

Feeling your shoulders drop,

Your chest expand,

Feel the lightness in your body connecting back with the sound of the water,

The cleansing sound as it washes away your worries,

Cares,

Thoughts or concerns and just smile gently.

Engage with the smells around you by this brook or stream or river.

Feeling freer,

Calmer.

You're slowly gonna begin to guide yourself back knowing that you can return to this meditation at any time.

It's always available in your mind.

So breathing deeply,

Rolling your shoulders,

Wriggling your fingers,

Your toes,

Stretching,

Yawning,

Breathing,

Sighing,

Gently blinking your eyes open,

Ready to face your day with so much love from my heart to yours.

Wishing you a truly blessed day.
