Morning,
Afternoon,
Evening.
Ordinarily We are.
Let's use the image of the horse and cart.
The cart.
Really has no power,
No.
.
.
And no power of its own.
It just goes where the horse goes.
And that's not exactly right.
For us,
But we are like the cart.
Oh,
It seems like we like the cart.
And thought is the horse.
Leading the way.
We get pulled hither and thither with thoughts.
Thoughts go here,
We go there.
Thoughts think this and we reap the consequences.
And it just seems like it's just so erratic,
Constant.
And that's where.
.
.
Majority of our suffering comes from.
It's simple,
You can see it yourself,
I'm sure it's not.
Doesn't come as a big surprise.
So wherever thoughts go,
We go.
Thoughts jump in a puddle.
We get wet.
Now these thoughts will take us on all these rides,
The anxious ride,
The lonely ride,
The poor me ride.
What's going to happen right,
What should have happened right.
It's just endless.
So what happens if.
.
.
We begin.
To not follow the thoughts.
To start off with.
One or two thoughts it would all follow.
Always just stay here.
Were aware of the thoughts.
We're still present.
So if the thought goes in the puddle,
We don't get wet.
We stay dry,
We stay here.
And then we find ourselves following the path.
The thoughts.
Then,
Another moment.
And gradually.
Would you stop picking up all these thoughts?
So what happens?
We're not free more here.
Less distress,
Less anxiety.
And what we're doing is losing interest in that ego-centered thinking.
The mental noise,
The static.
That's what it is,
It's just like a static.
Do you start to lose interest?
Because we only see it over and over again,
Isn't it?
What's the point there?
But you feel it's a bodily knowing,
It's a bodily seeing,
It's an intuitive knowing.
The need to stop following them so much.
There's always one that comes along and gets you.
And that's fine.
So we see thoughts in that way and our practice is just to do that and just to,
Sort of.
Sense this presence here.
The body's part of it.
The breath's part of it?
The breath's not special,
It's just.
.
.
It's not as precious.
As far as the practice goes.
Can be useful.
Was soaking the sound of the refrigerator.
Be listening to the sound of the fridge.
OK.
Not rocket science.
So,
Just watch for.
.
.
Having a thought about a thought,
Ah,
There I go again.
It's just another thought.
Take deep breaths and drop into presence,
Into the body.
Go and try to stop thinking.
That's not it.
Relax.
She is awfully busy.
And feel the end of the out-breath.
It might help to settle you.
Thoughts are just a very small part of our experience.
They seem to dominate.
That's where the attention goes.
The attention feeds them.
Is sensing into this presence.
The body.
There's feeling.
There's seeing,
There's hearing.
Everyone here is feeling and probably hearing.
To fill the body.
Trying to self-efforting.
Just take a deep breath.
Breathe it all out.
And relax.
This is not about effort.
There is no effort to be present here.
Feel the body.
The sounds just appear to the ears.
Keep it simple.
Is to allow life to happen.
Where is the attention?
And the thoughts really have no power.
The powers given to them.
Through belief.
What's going on?
You're becoming a little more intimate with your own presence.
Don't think about it.
It's nothing to think about.
Just feel the body.
Allow ourselves to relax.
Okay,
We'll bring this session to an end.
And we stretch.
And that's it!
