Good morning What I'm sharing with you here,

Or what is being shared is not tinkering at the edges of life,

Of yourself It's not self-development or self-improvement Those are well and good if that's what you want But in my experience and view,

They don't really,

They're not They don't bring about any long-lasting change They don't really get to the root of the problem That's what I'm talking about It's like living on a boat on the ocean and making the boat a bit nicer and of course it's always rocky and you're trying to steady things It's never steady for long because what's rocking the boat is out of your control Okay What we're doing here is becoming familiar with your true self with a capital S Not the little self,

The whining,

Mourning,

Whinging You know what I mean You can't kid me because it goes on here It goes on with every human being Yeah Not that That's not who you are That's the program That's been installed That started to be installed when you were about two years of age That's not you It's just a case of misidentification No matter how we try to pretty that up with positive thinking and this and that It doesn't,

In my opinion,

It doesn't really deliver the goods It's tinkering And if you've tried to think positively all the time Good luck Because the thinking is outside of your control Just try it Okay,

I'm not going to,

I'm only going to think positive thoughts today Yeah,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Yeah,

Yeah There,

On it goes Just say to yourself,

I'm not going to think for the next minute Three minutes See what happens What's my next thought going to be?

You have no idea So we're going right to the root of the problem And what we need to do is,

During the day,

Come back to It's not easy to describe this movement Because you're not going back to a thing You want to go back to what?

Go back to noticing the noticing Just come back Because you're noticing the thoughts,

You're noticing the sounds All this is popping up,

Appearing to awareness But we miss awareness We miss on this sense of presence I'm just using different words to try and give you a flavour of it And that is the key to life It's the key It's the only one I know You don't have to do it in this way There's many ways of approaching this It's just the way I've been taught and the way I share But you've got to get clear on this misidentification This little,

Whining little me Isn't you,

Whining little voice The ego voice,

It's not you And when that begins to be seen It's like,

Ah Okay,

How did I fall for that?

But you have to get some distance from that And that's why I keep saying,

Come back here Watch the show Label those thoughts That gives you that distance,

So to speak It's not a distance,

Obviously That,

In my experience,

Is the absolute key Find out who you really are Otherwise,

What you do doesn't really It never worked for me And I see it not working for others I saw it as well in the Buddhist movement I was in For over 20 years,

I was trying to change this Trying to do something with this Trying to make it better,

Improve it,

Develop it Over 20 years And I just got tired Frustrated Already What are you looking for?

You just need to turn around Turn around,

Become familiar with this Ah With presence,

With your true self The capital S Which is untroubled So let's sit quietly The word hard is banished This is not hard,

We banish that The harder you try,

The harder it is So relax Don't look for an experience A firework An explosion Just rest In your very own presence You'll find yourself on a ride It's okay Just come back to awareness,

To presence To the body And just feel what you find No need to label the body Just feel it,

Silently The mind is very active Seems a bit of a struggle You can rest the attention on the breath And feel the end of the out-breath Just relaxing into presence Now just notice if there's an element of trying here Of striving If so,

Just relax Relax Relax into your very own being Your already being The mind will want to come sweep you away Into its anxious world It's okay if you get caught Just being nobody,

Going nowhere Just here Aware Alive Where are you now?

It's okay Gradually you're starting to see Just what on earth is going on Okay,

You can open your eyes When you're ready A little stretch So during the day guys Commit yourself to this Make a commitment It just needs to be two seconds Just ah,

Ah Just come back Come back to noticing and noticing Just resting in presence Or awareness,

Whatever you want to call it You know,

You do your daily sitting You know,

During daily life Come back,

Come back home Go on But no criticism,

No judgment That's just more of that old stuff That's more of the program If there's any tone of criticism or judgment You know that it's the egoic program There's nothing there We've been in there for long enough There's nothing there for us There's just unhappiness Just to be frank That's what there is And slowly,

Gradually you'll start to See changes in your life The way you meet things The way you do things The way you meet challenges Okay,

Coffee time See you tomorrow Thank you See you tomorrow,

I’ve a question on coming back to presence: often when I’m absorbed listening to music for example then I’m all of a sudden I’m stepping back into myself realizing hey I’m listening to music but it does ruin the moment - is that thinking or is that me coming back to present moment? I’m confused because I think im already present with the music … thanks!!!
