Good morning.
Good afternoon,
Good evening.
So,
We have five senses.
We have the hearing,
We have the seeing,
Of the tasting,
Smelling,
And touching,
Feeling.
Five senses,
They're just on.
They do not comment on what they come into contact with.
The hearing never complains about what's being heard.
In those five senses.
As it were,
It's not completely accurate.
You can't get it completely accurate because words are not sufficient.
Sit within presence,
Which is pre-sense.
It's in the word.
And that's how we experience life,
Through the senses.
It's as simple as that.
Every living being has these senses.
Or a variation of them.
And that's how.
.
.
There's an appreciation of life,
That's why animals don't suffer like we do,
They're just in the senses.
That's the world of an infant.
That's why there's joy.
But we don't.
Exactly live in the senses.
We live in what Buddhism often calls the sixth sense,
Which is the creative sense,
Which is mind,
Thinking.
And if you've sat for long enough,
And some of you have seen this,
I know that most of what it says is made up.
It just makes things up.
And a lot of it's on loops,
It's a programming.
That's where it is.
And then we have another programming,
Or part of that program is saying,
I wish I could stop thinking.
And sick of it.
Why do I think so much?
That's just part of the program.
You can't.
You can't just.
.
.
Wishfully thinking that he could stop thinking.
You can't do it through effort.
Can I do it through willpower?
It didn't work like that.
It's this automatic programming.
And what's happened as we grew out of infants and then start to use language,
Et cetera,
Et cetera,
We start to identify with thought.
So take our reference point as thought.
What the thought says about the world of the people,
Ourself,
Our work colleagues,
The neighbours,
The government.
Is all down to.
What mind says to programming.
And other programming in our cultures.
Is about I'm not good enough.
So,
Criticism.
It's a program.
So how do we.
.
.
How do we end the programming?
Well,
You don't.
The programming can weaken.
But it's not a case of trying to think positively or change the programming,
It's simply stop feeding it.
Like me to a fire When we start to resist the thoughts or try to change them or we engage in them,
We're just pouring fuel on the fire.
So what do you do to burn and put out a fire?
Is leave it.
You don't stop feeding it with wood or whatever,
With the fuel,
And it just burns itself out.
And that's the approach you take here.
Don't go to war on it,
It's just more fuel.
It's just more thoughts.
Thorst is fueling my thoughts.
So,
Let's sit quietly.
So we begin.
In the senses,
Even pick a sense if you wish,
The feeling sense or the hearing sense.
I tend to use the visual a lot,
But you don't need to.
Use the breath Remember you can always come back to the breath if it's all a little bit too busy.
The end of the out-breath can help to calm the system.
I would use sitting in the senses.
What's going on right now.
Fueling the fire.
2k fuel.
If you're frustrated or whatever.
Confused,
Doubting.
Even thought.
Come back to that which isn't a thought.
Or the senses,
The breathing.
The breath isn't the thought.
Direct experience of that movement.
Where are you now?
Where is the attention?
Feeling the fire?
Are resting in what's actually happening.
Just relax.
Destination is already here.
Believe it's somewhere else,
Something else has got to happen.
OK.
Open your eyes if they're closed.
A little stretch.
And that's it.
Thank you guys.
See you tomorrow.
Bye bye.
Bye.
