Good morning,
Good afternoon,
Good evening.
So onward.
Not feeling very well or feel ill.
Got some ailment.
Often take medicine.
In many forms.
And even exercise,
The doctor may give us exercise,
And we don't really want to do that.
That's the medicine.
Medicine is designed to make us feel better,
To improve our health.
You can see meditation is similar.
The kind of medicine.
But just like the other medicine,
It doesn't always taste very nice.
It doesn't always feel good.
But if we don't take the course of medicine.
The idea is that we don't get well.
Even though it doesn't taste nice.
When I was a little boy,
Cough medicine invariably that my mother gave me.
It's horrible.
I didn't want it.
She used to make me take it.
You know.
The ideas that make you well again.
And when we're taking this medicine,
It's similar.
It doesn't always feel very nice.
It's kind of boring.
I can't be bothered.
You know.
Why am I going to have a quiet mind?
While using the other metaphor,
There's your doll.
There's your locked door.
Because you're off into the future again.
So what we do.
.
.
We just take the medicine.
I mean,
If we're sitting here and we're hurting,
You know,
We're not doing damage to ourself,
Anything like that,
You move,
Because kindness is part of it too.
And so you just move,
Make yourself comfortable.
And its consistency.
You know,
The doctor said take two a day for a week,
You take two a day for a week.
And the idea with this is that you do your best to put all expectations to one side because they're not helpful.
And just take the medicine.
You have to take it well.
You have to take it.
You take the medicine the doctor gives you.
As prescribed.
If you just join,
Just talking about meditation as medicine,
Sometimes it doesn't feel very nice.
But we take it.
Consistently,
We take it.
If you don't take the medicine the doctor prescribes,
The idea is you don't get well.
But most of the time,
Instead of.
.
.
Taking the medicine that we make as well,
Which doesn't always feel very nice,
As I've said.
It doesn't always feel very nice.
What we often do is take the wrong medicine.
Medicine of our own minds,
Of our own opinions and judgments and fantasies,
Regrets.
So we go to the thought bar.
Taking shots of the wrong type of medicine.
Instead of taking the medicine that we make as well.
And because the medicine or the,
You know,
What we get from the thought bar is familiar,
It's all about me.
Take a shot of victimhood,
Take a shot of regret,
Take a shot of no hope,
Or hope,
Just hope,
No hope,
Hope and fear.
Off we go.
We don't realize we're doing it.
Until we start to soar abruptly.
And the medicine that we really want to take is right here,
Sitting quietly.
Just experiencing the body.
Listening to the wind of the rain.
Feeling the breath,
Because they are not self-centered,
See?
Their reality.
That's the ultimate medicine.
So let's take some medicine.
Let's start off if you wish by using the mantra just for a few minutes.
On the few techniques we use here.
Just to begin with.
Sharing.
Sharing.
Just taking the medicine of sitting quietly,
Feeling the breath.
Listening to the rain or the birds,
Traffic.
Listening to reality.
In the reality of the body with all its sensations.
The breath.
Watch your attention right now.
Wish you can drop the mantra.
Just checking you're relaxed.
At least your attitude is relaxed.
You're not stiff.
Trying to get somewhere.
You are right here.
Taking the medicine moment by moment.
Okay.
What's going on?
Taking the medicine of your self-centered thinking,
Just make you worse.
So just drop those.
And take the medicine of silence.
And listening to the world.
The real world.
Just feeling the body.
What's going on?
Relax.
There's nothing to attend.
Nothing.
It's an unravelling.
And undoing.
OK.
That brings us to the end.
Thank you guys.
