Perfectionism is a perilous road. Though not a diagnosable disorder, it is a pattern that may lead to disorder, unrest, and unhappiness. These daily affirmations address the unhealthy thoughts, beliefs, and feelings often associated with perfectionism while offering a new "way". Peace on your imperfect path. Transcript

This daily affirmation practice is an offering.

Change work is worthwhile and you've shown up for it.

A suggestion is to repeat each affirmation aloud in the tone and tempo that feels empowering or healing for you.

Or you may choose to simply listen and reflect.

Perfectionism steals joy.

I deserve to feel joy and happiness.

I do so many things well.

I am competent and creative.

I can validate myself.

I am able to handle criticism without self condemnation.

I can achieve without perfection.

I am courageous.

I learn from everything.

I am lovable.

If I mess up,

I am still lovable.

There are several ways to do things well.

I am releasing fear of rejection,

Failure,

And embarrassment.

I am releasing anger and shame of myself and others.

Changing my thoughts will ease my fatigue.

My best is good enough.

I can handle disappointment and remember the many things that have gone well.

Perfectionism steals feelings of achievement.

And I deserve to feel accomplished.

I am competent and lovable.

I am worthy for who I am and not for what I do.

I deserve to feel joy.

Today is a new day and I am committing to a new way.

So appropriate and appreciated. ๐Ÿ™ Am currently re-reading Michael Schurโ€™s โ€œHow To Be Perfecโ€ (sic). Not having to be, while still aspiring, is comforting!

Thank you for this empowering talk. I believe perfectionism leads to procrastination. I have been held captive for too long by perfectionism. Thank you for this freeing talk. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sometimes we experienced a combination of excessively high personal standards and overly critical self-evaluations without being aware of what we are doing to our mental health, this is a very unusual topic, thank you for reming us in your own unique way. โค๏ธ

What a timely affirmation, for a teacher who's completely over-wrought this May, the most overwhelming month on the school calendar. As an OCD perfectionist, I definitely identify with the mantra, "Perfectionism robs joy." Thank you, Jeri, for speaking to and meeting my needs of where I'm at this morning. I, indeed, am worthy for who I am, NOT simply "what I do."
