A validation poem for those in recovery. This writing views "recovery" as an inclusive healing journey. A personal dedication to all who come together under the shade of the Palo Verde Tree- who work toward radical acceptance and health. For those who believe in what is possible when we love ourselves into awareness and action in safe, loving communities. The Palo Verde tree is a unique tree of lime green bark and bright yellow blossoms, found in the desert. The entire tree absorbs light!

Come and meet me for a chat,

My friend,

Under this Palo Verde tree.

Let's talk of life and pain and strength in hopes of what can be.

Share with me your joy and hurt,

And I'll talk to you of mine.

We grow our trust like branches do,

Slow but strong with time.

You hear me when I speak my life,

And I welcome when you reveal The shadow roots buried under us,

Yet need a voice to heal.

We have desert days and monsoon rain when hopeless thoughts invade.

This tree of life withstands it all,

Draws us back into its shade.

Where others may see brokenness or lives in disrepair,

We see the best and trash the rest,

Refusing to swallow despair.

What brought us here to this place of growth,

Reasons differ,

Unique as this tree.

What matters is that we find refuge,

Our scene,

In shared humanity.

My wish is when we leave this shade,

To live on,

But not just survive.

To take what we've learned,

Love ourselves more,

Live lives like this tree where we thrive.

The stigma,

Remember,

It's not ours to bear.

We're as real as real can be.

And maybe that's why we're here,

My friends,

Under this Palo Verde tree,

With love.

When words fail to capture the depth of our sadness, when they can't hold or heal our grief, when we yearn for more than just surviving, but to truly live, breathe freely, and find hope and love again, that's when we turn to the beautifully crafted words of poetry. This poem d its beautiful and heartwarming recitation provide. #Namaste

Great poem Jerilea, I like the bird sounds in the background as well! The poem emphasizes optimism which is something I am for as well so I found a connection there. Thank you for all your great recordings here in insight timer. Sincerely Chris

These verses are so lovely incorporating nature and truth about the human experience- a call to community not to self pity but strength, endurance and a common wish to not just survive but have life worth living, dancing in the wind as the tree

This is a beautiful meditation ....most of us are in recovery one way or another, whether it is is physical,, emotional, and/or spiritual....trauma. Showing up and participating in a mutually supportive environment is a gift to ourselves and others. I love this paired with your You are the Medicine reading.

What a wonderful poem. Palo Verde is the queen of the desert. Her resiliency is reflected well here. What an inspiring way to start my day.
