Good morning.
Take a moment to settle in.
Perhaps you have only just woken up.
And before you do anything else,
Before you start scrolling through your phone,
Before you think about everything you need to do today,
Allow yourself to simply be here.
You are awake.
And for these next few moments,
There is nowhere you need to go.
Nothing you need to solve.
Nothing you need to accomplish.
Just this moment.
As you lie here,
Notice how your body feels.
Perhaps you feel heavy and warm.
Perhaps you feel alert.
Perhaps your mind is already busy moving through thoughts about the day ahead.
And if that is happening,
That's okay.
You don't need to stop your thoughts.
You don't need to force yourself to feel calm.
Simply notice what is here.
Your body has its own natural rhythm for waking.
As morning arrives,
Your body begins preparing you for the day.
Your heart may become a little more alert.
Your breathing may change.
Your mind may begin to become more active.
This is part of the body's natural transition from sleep to wakefulness.
You don't have to fight it.
And you don't have to add anything to it.
You can allow your body to wait.
While giving your mind permission to take its time.
So take a slow,
Comfortable breath in now.
And gently breathe out.
Again,
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
There is no need to breathe deeply or perfectly.
Just allow your breath to become a little slower and softer.
Notice the surface beneath you.
Feel the weight of your body being supported.
The bed beneath your back.
The pillow beneath your head.
The warmth of the covers if you are still under them.
Let yourself feel that support.
You don't have to hold yourself up right now.
You are being supported.
And perhaps you can notice your shoulders.
If they're already beginning to tense as you think about the day,
Let them soften.
Relax your jaw.
Soften the muscles around your eyes.
Let your hands become loose.
Your body doesn't need to prepare for everything at once.
There will be time for that.
If thoughts about the day are appearing,
Simply notice them.
Perhaps you're thinking about work.
Your family.
Messages you need to answer.
Appointments things that didn't get finished yesterday.
Things you're worried might happen today.
Your mind may already be trying to get ahead.
And you can gently remind it,
Not yet,
There will be time.
You don't have to live the whole day right now.
You only have to be here.
Here in this bed.
Here in this room.
Here in this moment.
Take another gentle breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine releasing some of the pressure to get started.
You don't need to rush into the day.
You can enter it gradually.
Like the light of morning slowly filling a room.
There is no need for the whole day to arrive at once.
Notice the difference between being awake and being rushed.
You can be awake without being anxious.
You can be alert without being tense.
You can have energy without needing to immediately act on it.
You can allow your body to become ready for the day.
While your mind remains grounded in this moment.
And if it feels comfortable,
Place one hand gently over your chest or your abdomen.
Feel the warmth of your hand.
Feel the subtle movement beneath it as you breathe.
Let this become a small reminder.
I am here.
I am safe in this moment.
I don't have to hurry.
As you breathe,
Imagine creating a little more space between waking up and reacting.
You wake up.
You notice.
You breathe.
And then,
When you're ready,
You choose what comes next.
You don't have to start looking through your phone yet.
You don't have to check what happened while you were asleep.
You don't have to take in everyone else's thoughts,
Messages and demands before you've even had a moment with yourself.
Give yourself these few minutes.
Let your own presence be the first thing you experience today.
Take another slow breath in.
And slowly breathe out.
Perhaps you can listen for the sounds around you,
Sounds inside the room,
Sounds outside,
The distant sounds of morning.
You don't need to identify them.
Simply let them come and go.
And notice that you can hear the world beginning its day without needing to rush into it.
Now bring your attention back to your breath.
Breathing in.
.
.
And breathing out.
Nothing complicated.
Nothing to achieve.
Just one breath.
And then another.
If your mind moves towards the future,
Gently bring it back.
Not because the future doesn't matter.
But because you don't need to be there yet.
Today will unfold one moment at a time.
You will meet each moment when it arrives.
And perhaps you can quietly repeat these words to yourself.
I can be awake without being rushed.
I can let my body wake naturally.
I don't have to solve the day before it begins.
One moment is enough.
So take a comfortable breath now.
And notice how you feel.
You may feel calmer.
You may simply feel a little more present,
And that's enough.
This isn't about creating a perfect morning.
It's about beginning the day with a little less pressure.
A little more space,
A little more kindness towards yourself.
Soon you will get up.
You will begin your morning.
There will be things to do,
People to respond to,
Decisions to make.
And when those things arrive.
You can meet them one at a time.
You don't need to carry them all right now.
Before you move on with your day,
Take one final slow breath in and breathe it out fully.
And remember,
You don't have to rush simply because you are awake.
You don't have to anticipate every possibility.
You don't have to have the whole day figured out.
You can begin gently.
You can begin slowly.
You can begin here.
When you're ready,
Allow your eyes to open.
Take your time.
And carry this feeling of calm awareness with you.
As you move into your day.
One breath.
.
.
One moment.
One thing at a time.
And let that be enough.
Have a wonderful day.
