Well hello there,
I'm Steph and today I wanna talk with you about something that Marcus Aurelius talks about.
And Marcus Aurelius is a stoic philosopher.
He says,
Today you will encounter rude,
Mean,
Ungrateful,
Disrespectful victim mentality and difficult people and your job is to not let them affect you,
To influence your day in any way that will tear you down or allow you to feel just yucky in a way that doesn't uplift you or support you or encourage you.
When you come across these people who it seems as though their mission is to tear you down,
Your mission,
Your duty is to not let them,
To stay true to yourself.
You owe it to yourself to be your best self,
To show up in a way that supports your goals and your values and everything that you're working so hard to achieve.
When you wake up in the morning and you're excited to start your day and to take action towards the thing or the things that has been on your mind or in your heart and when you encounter these people,
The ones that are so stuck in their own pain they can't see through it and they're trying to bring you down with them.
You get to make the decision,
The choice in that moment to say no thank you,
That's not for me.
I'm not here to live in my pain.
I'm here to live in my joy and what delights me and to accomplish the goals and to live the life that excites me.
Why not allow yourself to live a life filled with delight and joy,
Fill that happiness,
Do the productive things,
Make the effective choices that bring you closer and closer and closer to what it is that you want and sometimes they'll get to you.
Maybe they caught you in a moment yourself where you're struggling or you're feeling down or maybe you're just tired.
You can have that moment and prevent it from stealing your entire day just by refocusing on what it is that you are setting out to do.
Take a breath and find the peace and the love and the encouragement inside you.
Know that it is with you at all times and there are moments when other people can get the best of us.
But a moment is a moment and not a day and we can take back the rest of the moments because it is our duty to honor ourselves in our heart,
In our mind,
In our body,
In our dreams and to go after what it is that we want to achieve our goals,
To experience the things in life we want to experience.
You are powerful and you are alert and you are strong and you are capable.
You are such a phenomenal being and you are here to do your work,
Your good things,
To do the things you gotta do and also have joy along the way and people will also do injustices to you.
For example,
If you're a kind,
Generous person and you're doing kind things for people,
They may not always say thank you and that can be frustrating and discouraging and perhaps you even think I'm done.
I'm so done doing nice things for other people.
But let me ask you,
If you're done being the person you are,
Who will you be instead?
If you're not going to be generous,
What's the other side of that?
If you're going to withhold what brings you joy,
What will you be left with?
So yes,
People will do injustices.
They will try to hurt you with their words and sometimes even with their actions and sometimes they'll succeed and you get to decide how you're going to show up anyway.
You get to decide what actions,
What feelings are you going to carry with you because those injustices,
Those mean,
Rude,
Ungrateful people are not bigger than you or your value or the worth that you're providing to yourself and to all those around you.
So let them be rude and distasteful and hurtful and disrespectful and you,
You show up living this life in a way that brings you delight and joy and playfulness and really getting to experience it in a way that when you're 90 and on your deathbed,
You say,
Oh yeah,
That was a dang good life and I lived it and I lived it on my own terms and other people and their pain and their frustration and their suffering,
I didn't let it affect me and I did my part to make my world better and the world better of everyone else around me and that looked however that looks for you and that is a beautiful thing and you are a beautiful person,
You are phenomenal and worthy and you matter.
So that is my wish for you is that you are able to stay true through your actions,
Through your thoughts,
Through your feelings and decisions on how you treat yourself and on how you treat everyone you encounter regardless of how anyone is treating you.
Those are my thoughts on some of Marcus Aurelius thoughts.
I agree with him and I hope you have a beautiful day and you stay true to you and create experiences that bring you so much delight.
Have a beautiful day and know that you're enough right now and you are phenomenal.
Bye.
