Welcome to this meditation.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position,
Either seated or laying down,
Somewhere you can be at ease and where your body feels supported.
Gently close your eyes if that feels safe or lower your gaze and take a slow,
Deep breath in and exhale fully.
With each breath,
Feel your body settling,
Softening,
Arriving in this moment.
This is your time to pause,
To reflect and to gently retrain your mind.
Notice the ground beneath you,
Steady and supportive.
And now bringing your attention to the physical sensations of the present moment.
With your next inhale,
Gently scan your body from the crown of your head down through your neck and shoulders,
Your arms,
Your chest,
Your stomach and all the way to your legs and feet.
If you notice any tension,
Simply breathe into that area.
And as you exhale,
Releasing that tension.
With every breath,
Allowing yourself to feel a little lighter,
A little more open.
Each exhale signals safety to your nervous system,
Calming the stress response and allowing your brain to shift into a state where learning and change are possible.
Now gently bring to mind a belief that has held you back.
It might be something like,
I always mess things up,
I'm not good enough,
I'll never change or I don't deserve success.
See if you can observe this thought with curiosity,
As if you were a scientist noticing a pattern in the brain.
Now take a moment to reflect on where this belief came from.
Was it a seemingly harmless comment from your past?
A belief that was held by your family or social circle?
Or the perception or interpretation of a past experience?
And now take a moment to reflect on how this belief is getting in your way or has impacted you in the past.
What new opportunities did you say no to out of perceptions related to your readiness,
Capabilities or experience?
How much time did you waste putting things off because of this negative belief?
This is the personal cost of self-limiting beliefs.
And now ask yourself,
What if it weren't true?
And consider what you could achieve if you could walk away from this belief.
Say quietly to yourself,
This is just a thought,
A story,
Not a fact.
My brain learned this pattern and it can learn a new one.
Now imagine placing that belief on a leaf and gently setting it on a river.
Watch the current carry it away,
Slowly,
Gently,
Until it disappears from view.
Feel the space that opens within you as that belief drifts away.
And now invite in a new,
More supportive belief.
It doesn't need to feel perfect,
It just needs to feel possible.
It could be,
I can learn and grow,
Or I am capable of change,
Or I deserve compassion,
Or I am enough.
Choose a phrase that feels nourishing,
Even if it feels new.
Repeat this phrase gently,
Pairing it with your breath.
Inhale,
I can,
Exhale,
Grow,
Or inhale,
I am,
Exhale,
Worthy.
With each repetition,
You are strengthening a new neural pathway,
Laying down the foundation for a different story.
Take a final,
Deep breath in and imagine that new belief settling into your brain,
Your body,
Your nervous system,
And let it go with a sigh.
Feel the calmness that comes from possibility and choice.
Remind yourself,
Change happens with repetition and patience.
Each time you notice a limiting belief and gently replace it,
You are reshaping your brain.
When you're ready,
Start bringing your awareness back to the room.
Gently stretch in any way you need to,
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Carry this awareness forward today that you are not your thoughts,
You are the one who chooses which ones to strengthen.
