Hi,
This is Stefania and here are 18 Rules for Living by the Dalai Lama.
And just a tiny bit of information about the Dalai Lama,
He's a holy man who lives in Tibet.
He's the 14th Dalai Lama,
Tenzin Gyatso,
And he describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk.
He's a spiritual leader of Tibet.
The Dalai Lamas are believed to be manifestations of the Bodhisattva of Compassion and the patron saint of Tibet.
Bodhisattvas are realized beings inspired by a wish to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings who have vowed to be reborn in the world to help humanity.
And here are the 18 Rules of Living by the Dalai Lama.
These rules,
It doesn't matter if you live in Tibet on a farm,
If you live in New York in a penthouse.
These rules apply to all human beings.
18 Rules of Living by the Dalai Lama 1.
Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2.
When you lose,
Don't lose the lesson.
3.
Follow the three Rs.
Respect for self,
Respect for others,
Responsibility for all your actions.
4.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5.
Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7.
When you realize you've made a mistake,
Take immediate steps to correct it.

9.
Open your arms to change,
But don't let go of your values.
10.
Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11.
Live a good,
Honorable life.
Then when you get older and think back,
You'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12.
A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13.
In disagreements with loved ones,
Deal only with the current situation.
Don't bring up the past.
14.
Share your knowledge.
It's a way to achieve immortality.
15.
Be gentle with the earth.
16.
Once a year,
Go someplace you've never been before.
17.
Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18.
Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
Each one of those could be a point for meditation.
It might be kind of a fun and eye-opening idea to journal about these points,
To take each point and give it a separate page in your journal.
And just quiet yourself with a bit of breathing,
Maybe clear the air with a bit of smudging,
And then just free-write,
Just free-write whatever comes to your mind as you go over each of the points.
Some of them might not make any sense at all.
Put that in your journal.
But some of them might open a door in your mind,
Or a door in your heart,
Something that's been there,
But just was not identified.
You couldn't put it into words.
But one of these rules,
One of these points might be the missing link.
It might be a good idea to journal and see what comes up.
I'll read them again.
They're so special,
So simple,
So special.
