Taoists believe life is not defined by the number of years you live, but rather by the number of breaths you take. Every breath is precious and life-sustaining, so we need to make them count. In this meditation, we consider our past & present emotional lives. Water symbolically represents emotions, and we all make waves! Perhaps we've created some waves, or been caught up in the emotional situations of others. As we relax together and connect with ourselves on a deep, personal level, we spend time offering healing to ourselves...to bring soothing comfort and healing to our own emotional wounds. It is best if this meditation is repeated a few times, because it allows you to bring a more calming, deeper healing each time you revisit this meditation.

Soothing emotional wounds.

Be comfortable.

Gently close your eyes.

Breathe deeply and exhale fully and completely on each breath cycle as you consider this.

In China,

There's a philosophical religion called Taoism.

Taoists seek to live in harmony with Tao,

Which means the way or the designated path of one's life.

In other words,

Taoists try their best to live up to the life journey that has been mapped out for them.

They do not excessively pursue material wealth,

Stature or prestige.

Instead,

They place their hopes of a joyful and meaningful life upon the three jewels of their religion.

Compassion,

Moderation and humility.

Additionally,

Taoists believe that life is not marked out in the number of years you live,

But rather in the number of breaths you take.

So,

Slow your breathing right down and ensure you make the most of every breath you take.

In your mind,

Take yourself to a white sandy beach where the sun is shining brightly high in the sky.

Let your toes sink into the warm sand as you walk towards the water's edge.

Experience the sense of complete freedom and relaxation that washes through your mind and your body.

Notice how,

Very gently,

The ocean's water laps back and forth at your feet.

The small white waves are hypnotizing as they gather energy and speed,

Tumbling over each other to race up the beach,

Until they reach a point where their energy and purpose run out.

And the water slips silently back into the vast ocean.

Gone.

These aren't tidal waves,

But you can clearly see all the energy and activity that each small wave brings to the water's edge.

Metaphysically or symbolically,

Water represents our emotions.

We all make waves in our lives,

Emotional waves.

We have all invested precious time and energy in situations and relationships,

Which with hindsight,

Perhaps we should not have done.

Think of some of the waves you have made.

See them playing out in your mind right now.

Maybe you're a show-off,

Someone who makes fun of those who lack the gifts and the accomplishments that you enjoy.

Perhaps you've given a significant part of yourself to a relationship that you already know isn't healthy for you.

Or is it possible that you sometimes bring unnecessary heat and drama into situations when it's better to act with more maturity and dignity?

Whatever waves you're aware you sometimes make,

Resolve now to bring about calmer,

Smoother waters to your world and to the worlds of those you connect to.

Allow this peaceful time to heal old,

Emotional wounds that you still hold onto,

Even after all this time.

Cry if you need to,

But accept the profound healing and strengthening that this meditation time brings to your emotional state as you release and let go.

Mesmerism.

Info Begin now to take some longer,

Deeper breaths of fresh air.

Start to be aware of the place where you sit.

Gently and slowly bring yourself back to the room and when you're ready,

You can open your eyes and carry on with your day.

Stay happy and beautiful.

Namaste.

Very moving. I cried at the end. It brought up feelings of low self worth and self esteem.
