So I want to explore grounding with you and let's consider how it can support us when we feel overwhelmed,
Anxious or disconnected.
Rounding is a way of bringing our attention back into the present moment.
So when we experience stress,
Our attention can be pulled into thoughts,
Worries,
Memories or future fears.
Grounding helps us reconnect with what is happening right now.
It's not about ignoring emotions or pretending that they're not there or pretending that everything is okay.
It's about helping the nervous system recognize that we are here in this moment.
So grounding practices can be really simple.
They might include feeling the support beneath you.
Bringing awareness to your senses,
Noticing your breath,
Or gently connecting with your surroundings.
These small moments,
Even if they don't feel like much at the time,
Send messages of presence and safety to the body.
For some people,
Grounding may feel very natural.
For others,
Especially if you've experienced prolonged stress,
Connecting with the body can take some time.
So there's no right or wrong way to your experience.
The invitation is simply to begin noticing.
And I wonder right now in this moment,
Can you feel where you're supported?
Can you notice what you can see around you?
Colours,
Shapes,
Textures,
Things?
Can you remind your body that in this moment you are here?
Groundy is also not about becoming perfectly calm.
It really is about creating a little more connection,
A little more steadiness and a space to meet yourself with more presence.
