Hello and welcome to this relaxing meditation.
Finding yourself in whatever position you find most comfortable.
May you be seated on a cushion or lying down,
Inviting the most comfortable position possible.
You might even find it helpful to cover yourself with a blanket.
Your goal is to bring as much ease,
Comfort and relaxation to your body as possible.
Allowing rest to come over your body,
Activating the parasympathetic nervous system.
This system is responsible for returning your body to a state of calm and reversing the stress response.
Inviting a state similar to winter,
Allowing rest,
Rejuvenation,
Repair and sleep into every cell of your body.
To achieve this piece of relaxation,
Use your breath.
Using your breath to allow a feeling of ease to penetrate your muscles,
Bones,
Tendons,
Skin.
Using an inhaling breath for a count of five and an exhaling breath for a count of five.
Using this slow,
Gentle rhythm to bring your body into a state of ease.
Inhaling and exhaling.
Continuing this pattern for a few breaths before we begin.
Starting full body relaxation by inhaling,
Exhaling as you feel your breath,
Use the crown of your head.
Relaxing your scalp,
Your forehead,
Eyebrows,
Eyelids,
Cheeks,
Mouth,
Chin.
Inviting all tension in your body to release.
Releasing your tongue from the roof of your mouth.
Swallowing as you feel this peace going down your throat.
Inhaling as this relaxation sweeps across your right clavicle.
Down your upper arm,
Elbow,
Forearm,
Wrist,
Palm.
Feeling your breath move down your right thumb.
Feeling the relaxation move down each finger of your right hand.
Inhaling deeply and allowing that breath to move across your left collarbone now.
Swooping down your left upper arm,
Elbow,
Forearm,
Wrist,
Palm.
Relaxing the muscles in your left thumb.
And allowing each breath to relax every finger in your left hand.
And then with another smooth inhale.
Feeling the relaxation move down the chest,
Through your sternum.
As you inhale,
Feel the expansion of your ribcage,
Move this warm feeling through every breath.
Follow this feeling as it sweeps around your ribcage to your back.
As your relaxation moves down your spine,
As it travels to your tailbone.
From here it travels through your hips,
Through your hip flexors,
Releasing any tension in the day of sitting.
And allowing your breath to spread rest and relaxation down your thighs.
Starting with your right thigh.
Right knee.
Chin.
Calf muscle.
Ankle.
Bottom of foot.
Top of right foot.
Feeling relaxation permeate every toe on your right foot.
Allowing your breath to move this beautiful feeling down your left leg now.
Left thigh.
Knee.
Chin.
Calf muscle.
Ankle.
Bottom of left foot.
Top of left foot.
Allowing this beautiful relaxation flow through each toe of your left foot.
Remaining still as you soak in this wonderful feeling of being totally relaxed.
In this state your body can repair and rejuvenate and rebuild.
There is nowhere to be,
Nowhere to go,
Nothing to do.
But be one with this wonderful feeling of relaxation.
Allowing your breath to move this beautiful feeling of being totally relaxed.
Allowing your breath to move this beautiful feeling of being totally relaxed.
If you feel ready to return,
You may follow my instructions.
However,
If you desire to stay in this state,
Rest in rejuvenation for longer.
You may pause this meditation for as long as you wish.
Returning awareness to your body by first becoming aware of your left big toe.
Spreading that awareness to the rest of your left foot.
Up your left leg.
Knee.
Thigh.
Hip.
Becoming aware of your right big toe,
Right foot,
Right calf,
Right thigh,
Right hip.
Feeling your body awaken as this energy moves up through your hips,
Stomach,
Chest,
Ribcage,
Down both of your arms.
Energy moving up your throat,
Mouth,
Tasting the inside of your mouth.
Noticing any sounds in the room or outside of the room.
Becoming aware of the feeling of your top lid attaching to the bottom lid.
Tearing your eyes open and taking in your surroundings.
