Close your eyes,

Even if you feel like you do not have time for this,

You do.

Take a deep breath,

Inhale.

Release the tongue from the top of your mouth,

Part your lips just softly,

And exhale.

You deserve this moment.

What I'm about to say,

I want you to allow to wash over you,

Almost like it is like warm water.

I'm going to say some words of compassion,

And your only job is to receive them.

If it feels good,

You might even repeat the words quietly to yourself or change them a little bit so that they resonate even more with you.

This is your space.

It's really hard when you start the day with good intentions and a perfect to-do list,

And you have all of these ideas,

All this hope for what you can create,

And the day unfolds and it does not go as planned.

You have such high expectations of yourself,

Even if you don't realize it,

And those expectations have carried you very far in life.

But right now,

They might be tightening your jaw and filling your chest with urgency and desire to run forward,

And you should know that that makes sense,

Because your brain,

Your soul,

Your heart can see all the possibilities.

You know what you are capable of,

And sometimes your body and the world and other people do not move as fast as your mind,

And that is frustrating,

But it's not failure,

It's human.

And you know deep down that you are always more alive,

More powerful,

More productive,

When you aren't pouring your energy into criticizing the way that you have done things or are doing things and may do things in the future.

And even if it's hard to believe right now,

You are still safe,

You are still enough,

And you are still valuable,

Even if you don't check every box and get it all done,

Even if you feel behind.

See if you can find that part of you inside,

The part that's concerned or frustrated or afraid.

It might appear immediately,

As I mention it,

Or it might feel like that slight tension at the back of your neck,

Or an unease in your belly,

Or the way that you curl your toes.

I'm just bringing your awareness to it,

Just let it know.

There is enough space for you here.

There is enough space for your desire to get things done,

As well as the inability to do all of them all at once right now.

Nothing has gone wrong,

There's nothing to fix,

You don't need to be any different than as you are.

And even in this uncertain moment,

In this divide between what we want and what we can have,

You're safe.

Take two slow deep breaths with me and then we can move on with the day.

Inhale,

In through your nose,

Inhale,

Open your mouth out,

Exhale.

Just one more,

Inhale through your nose,

And exhale out through your mouth.

You can linger here as long as you like,

And when you're ready,

You can open your eyes,

Reorient back to the space in the room and know that you're enough,

Right here,

Right now,

Even with things unfinished.
