
Protecting Your Authentic Self
You can build your strength and believe more in your authentic self when you learn how to protect yourself. If you have felt adversely affected by someone criticizing, ridiculing, bullying or shaming you, you will be supported to create a protective shield in this meditation, so that you can remain safely unaffected by the negative forces outside of you.

Welcome.
I invite you to take a few deep breaths and get very comfortable as we settle into this meditation on protecting your authentic self.
And as we deepen into this meditation together,
I invite you to begin watching your thoughts.
And perhaps you could see your thoughts on the wings of a butterfly,
Flitting from flower to flower,
Just as thoughts do.
And you might be concentrating on something in particular when another thought enters your mind,
Which then reminds you of something else.
And then your butterfly mind is all over the place.
Even as you continue to relax more deeply.
And one moment your butterfly thought settles on a fragrant flower.
And then suddenly it spreads its gossamer like wings as it flies up in the air,
Performing its dance in the warm summer sunshine before landing again on a different flower.
And even now,
As you are listening to the sound of my voice,
You could be thinking of something else in the back of your mind.
And as you watch this butterfly coming and going,
You might be surprised to discover that deep meditation can happen all by itself.
And keep watching the butterfly,
Noticing its colors.
Is it a yellow butterfly or is it a rich,
Velvety brown butterfly?
Or could it be a red or a purple butterfly or a mixture of colors?
And just notice now how your butterfly has landed again.
Just as your legs are relaxing,
Feeling heavy.
And it's such a comfortable feeling that you want to spread this relaxation up into your thighs and your hips and your stomach.
And so this relaxing,
Comfortable feeling does spread up.
And you find your thighs and your hips and your stomach are relaxing even deeper as your mind flits around wherever it will.
Just like a butterfly.
And the center of your body is also relaxed.
Your breathing is steady and calm.
And your muscles feel loose and limp.
And your muscles feel loose and limp.
And even your chest and arms are relaxed and comfortable.
So,
So still and beautifully relaxed.
As your butterfly mind is getting too tired to flit here and there and just wants to rest.
And your arms and your hands are relaxed and comfortable.
Resting here.
Feeling too heavy to move.
Too heavy and too comfortable to even want to move.
And as your mind begins to still,
So you also notice your facial muscles are becoming relaxed.
Your jaw is now comfortably relaxed.
Your jaw is now comfortably relaxed.
As are all the muscles around your mouth and your nose.
And even the thought butterfly has gotten tired from flitting around and so decides to hang upside down for a while.
On the underside of one of those flowers.
Folding its wings as it does so.
And so you are resting here.
So calmly.
So peacefully.
And it's so nice to be still and not have to think all those butterfly thoughts.
As you drift effortlessly down into your own beautiful place.
Softly cocooned in a warm velvety cloak.
And I will be quiet for a few moments.
And all around you will be quiet and still.
And I will be quiet for a few moments.
And I will be quiet for a few moments.
And in the silence that follows.
And when you next hear my voice.
You will remain in this deep and beautiful relaxed place.
Ready to work along with me.
Towards transformation.
In whatever way.
Your subconscious mind intuitively knows is the best way forward for you.
And as you drift even deeper into meditation.
Even deeper into meditation.
Just allow yourself to really enjoy these feelings of calm.
These feelings of relaxation.
And these feelings of inner peace.
Because you may not always feel so relaxed.
As sometimes there is an inner struggle.
As you can be torn between being who you really are and trying to please other people.
And trying to please other people.
And this always causes discomfort within you.
Because you are denying your true self.
But now you've decided to be true to yourself.
To believe in what's right for you.
And to become assertive and more confident about expressing yourself.
And I'm going to share a protective technique to help you implement this change.
For this is a way of not only believing and trusting in yourself but also choosing to shut out negative influences.
Stopping the negative influences that do not feel supportive So as you settle yourself down into an even more comfortable and more relaxing place I invite you to use your wonderful creative subconscious mind to form a protective shield all around you.
And your shield can be made of anything you like.
It could be a strong aura or an impenetrable bubble,
For example.
But what matters most is to create a shield or bubble of protection that is personal to you.
Your own personal protective shield.
So feel a strong awareness of your true self within this bubble and at the same time be aware of the shield.
Now imagine yourself in a situation which has previously upset you.
Perhaps you might remember a time when you felt adversely affected by someone else criticizing ridiculing bullying or shaming you.
And whatever they did or said perhaps it made you doubt yourself and perhaps it made you feel afraid.
And so whatever happened in the past that caused you to doubt yourself allow it to arise in your mind and as you do ensure that your shield is protecting you.
And as you hear or see or feel those negative outside influences imagine them hitting the shield and bouncing right back to wherever they came from.
And feel the peace of remaining unaffected by negative forces outside of you.
Noticing how your feelings of safety and comfort remain the same inside your bubble of protection.
Noticing how these outside negativities no longer affect you.
Because you feel so safe in here inside your shield or your protective bubble so comfortable and so relaxed.
And it doesn't matter what anyone has said or done you are safe protected by your own personal shield.
And you can use this technique anytime you want or need to all you have to do is create your protective shield or your safety bubble in your mind.
Simply think to yourself my shield or my bubble and in a flash it will be there all around you protecting you like a cocoon of safety and love your own personal protective shield.
And of course you can still allow whatever is for your highest good to come through.
And you might create an invocation to make this protection even more powerful.
You might say for example I create a sphere of impenetrable protection surrounding me and only that which is for my highest good can come into my sphere and anything not for my highest good bounces off my sphere and dissipates it harmlessly returning it to the light.
And so you can use your shield to protect you from the negative things in life like unwanted words or the actions of others and because of your protective shield you are now able to build your strength and believe in yourself more and more relying on and trusting in your own guidance and the more you use your shield against negative influences the less influenced by them you are and this strengthens and reinforces your protective shield and increases your trust in your authentic self and now in a moment we're going to come back to normal conscious awareness and you can bring your shield back with you and feel it all around you protecting you and making you feel safe from outside negativity so when you're ready I invite you to count along with me and at the count of five you'll be wide awake feeling wonderfully invigorated and ready to allow these suggestions to work for you two three four and five welcome back
