The foundation of deep emotional healing is being able to reset your nervous system to a calm state at will. This takes determination and practice, but the more you interrupt fight, flight, freeze, and fawn patterns, the more you will know that you have the power to regulate your nervous system. You might be spending too much time in a state of nervous system activation. You might even feel locked into a state of fear, characterized by fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses. If you are in a "sympathetic lock," you can learn how to interrupt this habitual state many times a day until your body begins to crave the feeling of parasympathetic calm.

Welcome to this Nervous System Reset Meditation using I Am Safe Affirmations.

As you practice this meditation,

Especially whenever you feel anxious or dysregulated throughout your day,

Your body will learn to crave the feelings of safety and calm,

And you will come to recognize that you have the power to reset your nervous system back to calm whenever you need to.

So I invite you to get as comfortable and as cozy as you can for the next few minutes,

And just settle in to your cozy nest and begin to breathe a little bit deeper,

Lengthening your exhales so that you can transition into a calm state in both body and mind.

And now settling in to the rhythm of your breathing a little bit more,

You might like to think or say out loud,

I am safe,

I am safe right now,

And if it feels right,

You might rub your belly in a warm and circular motion and say to your belly,

I am safe right now,

That this felt sense of safety is entering into and installing safety into the cells of your belly.

And now sensing around in your body to see if there's any other place of tension,

And perhaps placing a gentle hand wherever you feel tense if you can,

And saying to this tension,

You,

You are safe right now,

And feeling this safety spreading throughout your entire body,

And imagining that you are installing this safety throughout as much of your body as possible for now,

Anchoring whatever felt sense of safety your body will agree to accept right now,

And focusing on this safety,

Knowing that as you do this meditation regularly,

Your felt sense of safety will grow more and more.

And now I invite you to bask in this felt sense of safety for a few more moments.
