
Healing Grief
Are you grieving a loved one who has died? In this meditation, you will be supported to process loss and grief by taking an imaginal journey to fly free with your loved one who has passed over. This meditation will help you to become intimate with your grief so that you can anchor the love that you shared with your dearly departed into your physical body. And, as you repeatedly listen to this meditation, you can intuitively create an inner grief healing sanctuary where you can process your grief bit by bit until it is gone.

In this grief healing meditation I will support you to get into a higher relaxed frame of mind so that you can imaginatively climb up out of this earthly world and meet a loved one who has passed away who is now in the heavenly realm so sitting or lying down with your eyes open at first I invite you to get very physically and now just raise your eyes and look up at a spot on the ceiling or higher up on the wall and fixate all your attention on that one spot and just continue to stare at that spot allowing all of your attention to become absorbed on that one spot and as you continue to focus on that spot you might become aware of your breathing and just notice as you continue to stare at that spot that you can feel your eyelids starting to become drowsy heavy and tired drowsy heavy and you may notice now that you are beginning to blink more and every time you blink you can start to easily and comfortably drift into a deeper state of relaxation and just perhaps you can think about how good it would feel to just close your eyes and when you're ready you can allow your eyelids just to close down and just bring your inner awareness to feelings of relaxation stillness and peace and now that you are perhaps you could imagine yourself looking toward an enchanting stairway that leads up to a most heavenly place a higher place where you can connect with a loved one who has departed from this earthly realm and so allow the image of a staircase to begin to form in more detail in your imagination and I will suggest what it could look like but it could be that the staircase to heaven that you create is somehow different from how I describe it and if it is it's absolutely fine as your imagination knows best about what is right for you and so as the image of your stairway to the heavenly realms begins to form in your mind you will find that you can become totally immersed in the wonderful sensations and feelings within you as you imagine seeing someone who you loved so deeply as you climb this stairway to heaven and you consider who you're going to connect with and just invite your feelings and your sensations to take you up to a higher elevated frame of mind up to a place where you can connect with someone who is very important to you at a higher frequency than you experienced together in this earthly realm so just allow yourself to become even more relaxed and comfortable and start to look up at your personal stairway to heaven looking up at your stairway you may notice a deep plush carpet and if so just notice how your feet can step lightly and comfortably onto the first stair or it could be that your stairway doesn't have a carpet it could be marble or a wooden staircase and if so you might notice the smooth marble or a slightly wood grainy sensation beneath your feet and whatever your stairway to heaven is made from just make sure that it feels good to you as it is just for you and you might also imagine a lovely polished banister running all of the way up to this heavenly place and just see it running all the way up to the top of the stairs and you might like to rest your hand lightly on it as you go up noticing the smooth texture beneath the palm of your hand and you're already feeling so relaxed and so comfortable and so at peace and you instinctively know that ascending this stairway will lead you to experience the most heavenly feelings of calmness serenity and a higher connection to your loved one than you were normally able to access here on earth and you really do want to go up to the highest possible level of conscious awareness that you can reach so that you can see and speak and feel the loved one that you are wanting to connect with today and because this is what you want your imagination and your intuition will lead you there easily and effortlessly and so as you stand closer to the first step you will start to hear in your imagination the soft tones of celestial music drifting into your awareness and your spirit is already lifting up going higher already feeling drawn to this beautiful place that you are ascending to and now you are getting ready to go higher and higher to meet your loved one who has passed over to the other side and now I will count the steps off for you as you ascend and you will find that the higher you go up the staircase the more comfortable and relaxed you will become one two beginning to climb higher and three feeling more comfortable and more relaxed as you climb four going higher five such a wonderful feeling the bottom of the stairs already seems to be further away and seven as you go higher still it begins to feel as though your ordinary everyday world is fading away and eight you are relaxing more and more as you climb nine going higher and very soon if not already you may notice that there are beautiful colors surrounding you now perhaps you see purples and blues or shades of green or vibrant pink and you might step into these colors as they form a safe and comfortable mist around you and ten you find that you are now almost floating up the stairway and as you reach the 11th step you may feel your consciousness rising higher twelve you become more relaxed more comfortable and more at peace with the universe 13 14 you are going all the way up into comfort and peace and 15 you are almost at the top of your stairway to heaven 16 you are floating over the steps now and there are just four more to go 17 higher and higher this really is a beautiful feeling and you are so happy that you are on this adventure 18 19 and now there's just one more stair to float over and 20 you have arrived and you are standing at the top of the stairs your feet barely touching this higher ground because you feel so light so wonderfully calm and so relaxed and so welcoming you now to this heavenly realm and you have come here today to heal a layer of your grief so you can practice relaxing today so that it becomes easier to express and release your grief so that you can eventually find peace and you might consider that your grief may heal completely or it may never completely go away but you will start feeling better over time and you will remember the love that your dear one left behind you will also remember the laughter the fun times and the affection that you shared and you will be able to anchor those good feelings in your body going forward and as you probably know there are several stages of grief and it is normal to cycle through these stages over and over and you will most likely experience emotions like anxiety denial anger depression and eventually acceptance and it's also normal to experience shock and numbness and to move through your days with no emotion and in contrast you may sometimes feel emotionally raw and you may find that sometimes you feel angry and frustrated and know that it's okay to be angry and this is a normal part of the grieving process and so you might even go through a stage of questioning wondering why trying to get the answers wondering why you did not have more time with your loved one and loss can be so hard to understand and so as part of the grief process you might seek answers or some sort of meaning as to why this loss has happened and another part of grief is loneliness and sadness and you might also feel stressed or depressed you might lack energy or find it hard to focus and concentrate and this is all part of the grieving process and the feelings of grief can sometimes be very intense but they will gradually decrease as you allow yourself to fully feel your grief and when you fully feel your grief all the way through it will heal and acceptance is the final stage of the grieving process acceptance is the end of grief and during the final acceptance stage you will begin to recreate a new life you will eventually accept that your life is different now now that your loved one is gone acceptance is the act of coming to the realization and the acknowledgement that this loss has occurred and so it is normal to proceed through the stages of grief in any kind of order and it's okay to be wherever you are today it's okay to ask questions to cry to feel upset to feel angry to feel depressed you have the right to grieve any way you need to grieve and you can move through your grief you can eventually feel better and you can move forward into your new life your new life might be very different from the life that you planned with your loved one here on earth and so now I just invite you to take a moment to honor any feelings that you have and so just take a deep breath in and feel your emotions and I will pause for a minute and during this time you may choose just to relax and breathe deeply or you might decide just go and flow with whatever emotions want to come up right now and just do whatever feels right for you continue to focus on your breathing for a few moments to access those emotions breathing slowly in and slowly out slowly breathing and relaxing and opening as much as you can to express any emotions that want to come up now let's change things up and focus on some healing imagery imagining for a moment that you are sitting by a beautiful lake and the sun is warm and the breeze is cool and as you rest and relax you notice birds softly floating in the wind above you and you wonder what it would be like to fly like a bird so free and so you decide and as you relax you are now flying like those beautiful birds flying high up in the sky and you have so much power and strength and so much clarity and focus and it feels so beautiful to let go of everything that's holding you down and it feels so wonderful to take a break from your grief even for a few moments and you are floating and drifting with the currents of the wind and just imagine what you might see as you drift you might see hills and valleys winding streams perhaps mountains maybe even the ocean and you might reach out and touch a cloud or touch the side of a mountain you might fly over the rivers and the fields you might fly over the ocean and experience the salty sea breeze and just feel the freedom and the power and as you do notice that you are experiencing a benevolent distance from your loss and from your grief almost like you can see a bigger picture of your life on earth and as you listen to the sound of my voice you can just relax and float freely in the sky this is your time to simply enjoy a few free moments of peace and tranquility and it's okay to take this time away from your grief and allow yourself just to let go and relax just taking a break from your grief just let your mind grow clearer and more free and more peaceful it feels so nice to fly in the sky and you can let go into love and allow these moments of love and freedom to heal a layer of your grief today and as you are relaxing and letting go take a moment to imagine yourself completely free of guilt and perhaps your loved one the one who's passed over from this world wants to become a bird in your imagination and you can fly free together for a while above all the struggles in this earthly realm and now as you continue to drift and float and fly in this healing flying free by yourself or with the soul of your loved one just relaxing even more realizing that minute by minute hour by hour and day by day you are healing your grief and you are remembering your loved one with freedom in your heart and you may even imagine that you are hugging your loved one in spirit now feeling the powerful energy of love flowing between you helping you to carry on in this earthly realm so take a moment to hug your loved one now and feel the love of your dearly departed pouring through you and it's okay to express some emotion if it feels right this is a safe warm and loving place to cry if you need to and just know that you are healing your grief little by little remembering the love that you shared and anchoring it into your body now taking another few moments to rest and relax and heal your grief by taking some precious time to safely express some more emotion if you need to right now and now imagine that you are floating down to earth and resting in a very healing place of your own creation and just picture this healing place right now in your imagination creating this place of peace and serenity that you might even give a name you could call it your grief healing sanctuary and so what does this healing place look like and create a detailed image of this place for healing your grief and your personal grief healing sanctuary is a beautiful place and a very comforting and peaceful place so you might imagine for example that you're sitting on a beach wrapped in a warm blanket or sitting inside by a warm fire cozy and secure maybe sipping on some hot chocolate or a soothing herbal tea for in your imagination you can create whatever you like and whatever you need for your grief healing process so just feel the peace and the serenity and the joy that this personal grief healing sanctuary brings knowing that this is a place of immense healing and this is a safe place where you express your emotions and it's a place to recover to sit to quietly reflect and to remember the good times that you shared with your loved one you might remember the feeling of a hug you might remember a warm smile and the love that you shared you might remember the laughter and all of the wonderful times that you had and these happinesses and these joys are the gifts that your loved one has left behind and they will never leave you because you get to keep every good experience that you ever had with your loved one even if they are no longer here in a human body and so as you anchor the love that they left behind into your human body your loved one becomes a part of you and the more you embody this love that was given to you it will support you to heal your grief because your loved one is inside of you now and you are carrying this love that you shared you are carrying this love that you shared forward into this earthly realm and so now you realize that you need time to grieve and you can allow yourself this time to feel and to heal until you gradually come to a deep acceptance about your loss and as your time and healing progresses and only you know how much time you need you can begin letting go of the intense pain of grief and move into a space of gratitude and love and this love and this gratitude will anchor more deeply into your body and now to sense into your grief healing process I invite you to practice an imaginative exercise to sense where you are symbolically in your grief right now and so I invite you to imagine yourself lying down in a beautiful field of flowers and imagine that your current level of grief is sitting on your chest and as you lie down in this field you feel this grief on your chest and perhaps your grief has a color maybe it's red or gray or even black so what color is your grief right now and perhaps you can also sense how heavy this grief is perhaps your grief wants to offer you a picture or a symbol and this picture or symbol does not need to make sense today but it will eventually it will make sense and as you symbolize this grief and feel its weight its heaviness its color you might consider that one day your grief will lift one day you could be free of this grief and one day you will feel so much better and so if it feels right you could just envision how it would feel for this grief to lift and it's okay if you can't imagine this grief lifting just yet because each time you go through this meditation you will get stronger and stronger and it will happen so you can just imagine this in your mind for now or just go through the motions in your imagination as you imagine that the grief is beginning to lift off your chest all by itself pushing itself upward and floating floating away like a bird in the sky and this energy of grief is lifting up into the sky very light flying away like a bird and consider that on the day that your grief will lift up into the sky you will be ready to pursue the dreams and new goals and you're feeling so relaxed and peaceful now because you have this knowledge that one day the weight of your grief will lift off of your chest and fly away and until then you can process your grief bit by bit day by day and come to the acceptance that your life without your loved one is different now and you can be thankful that your heart has the ability to heal because you have the ability to anchor all the love that you shared in this earthly realm together and the love always remains and for any difficulties that you might have had in your life together on a spiritual level only the love was and the love is yours to keep forever and so it is important to recognize where you are in your grief healing journey and you may repeat this meditation as often as you like whenever you to relax deeply so that you can feel and process a little bit more of your grief always knowing that your heart will heal in time and you will come to fully understand that the love that you shared is not gone and while the love that you shared is no longer physical you can anchor this shared love in your physical body like a secret treasure inside of you that is with you always and so you can take this grief healing process one step at a time slowly but surely so just sit here for a moment and enjoy this peace and the serenity as you feel your heart healing just a little bit more today and you can always return to your grief healing sanctuary in your imagination whenever you need to attend to your grief and so now just take a few more moments to rest and relax in whatever stage of grief healing that you are in right now as we will soon be ending this meditation and in a moment i'm going to count from one to five and at the count of five you will be wide awake feeling refreshed and alert number one coming back slowly number two feeling a little bit more healed number three coming back to the present time in the present place number four your mind and body returning to conscious awareness number five eyes open wide awake eyes open wide awake welcome
