This is the first of five talks discussing the idea of precepts and their relation to Anapanasati contemplations. This talk examines the first of the Five Precepts, "I undertake to abstain from taking life." In Thich Naht Hanh's Order of Interbeing, the precept is exanded and titled "Reverence for Life." Based in Thich Naht Hanh's wording for the precept, this talk introduces the ideas of interdependence and dependent co-arising as a basis for a compassionate observance of precept practice.
