Sacred Circle Of Trees β Planting A Wish
If wishes were seeds, when planted grew trees, what tree would your wish be? Today we will spend sacred time in the presence of the trees of the desert Southwest of Arizona. The desert provides the magic of healing and transformation, and her trees provide the medicine of the spiritual realm. Make a wish, which becomes a seed, and watch it grow into something beautiful. Our guided journey today will be accompanied by the energy of the drum to bless the wish that you plant today. I look forward to our journey together. Thank you for music by Chris Collins and Blue Dot Sessions.

Hi,
I'm Shannon.
Thank you for joining me on this guided journey today.
If our wishes were seeds like those that grow trees,
Then what tree would your wish grow?
I'd like to read a quote to you from the Tree Keeper's Oracle by Angie Sullins,
Which speaks to this idea of being the keeper of wishes.
When you live with trees,
You come to understand the importance of wishes.
For every acorn contains the wish of a magnificent oak.
So it is with all trees,
They drop seed wishes onto the ground in hopes that many will take root and grow into their full potential.
Now is the time to let yourself wish.
Plant those hopes and dreams into the fertile ground of your own creativity.
As I connected the idea of trees carrying our wishes and in conjunction with the Oracle card,
The Keeper of Wishes,
I thought what an awesome idea then to spend some time in the medicine of trees,
Their spiritual healing that can help us grow our own wishes for our life.
First,
I'd like to share with you where my idea for the journey came from.
In the Celtic European tradition of the calendar time,
It is a circle of 13 trees rather than 12 months based on the lunar cycles.
And then I thought wouldn't it be great if there were a sacred circle of trees based on this Celtic principle but adapted to where I live in the sacred desert southwest of Tucson,
Arizona.
The trees here in Tucson,
Although different from the family of trees in Europe,
Also have sacred healing spiritual properties.
My hope is that as we connect with the sacred desert medicine of these trees of the southwest that they help you grow the wish that you plant today for your journey in life.
First,
I'd like to name the trees that will show up during the journey from the desert so that you can first connect with their medicine and their spiritual energy.
Then,
What I'd like to do is set an intention before we move into the journey so that you can see what wish wants to be planted and grown and what tree is going to help you fulfill that wish.
Now I'd like to name the 13 trees that will be part of our guided meditation today and then after I name them I'll share just a little bit about their spiritual properties.
The first tree is the oak tree.
The oak tree in the desert represents strength,
Courage,
Being able to stand strong,
And being bold in our life.
The second tree in our circle is the mesquite tree.
The mesquite is known as the tree of life.
For thousands of years,
The mesquite beans of the tree were sources of nourishment even in harsh environments.
Our third tree in our circle is the palo verde tree.
This means green hair because the bark and branches are covered in a beautiful green color.
The flowers of the palo verde tree are also about connecting with our own individuality,
Also about accepting ourselves,
And connecting with the palo verde tree can help us also access ancestral healing.
Our fourth tree is the cottonwood tree.
This tree is considered a holy and sacred tree connected to the breath of spirit.
When the wind moves through the branches and leaves of the cottonwood tree,
They rattle and make a beautiful clapping sound to let you know that your prayers have been lifted up to the sky.
The fifth tree is the desert willow.
The medicine of desert willow is about fostering flexibility,
Also about growing and expanding our own psychic gifts,
And connecting with the desert willow can help you heal with anything that you might be grieving or have sadness about in life.
The sixth tree is the ironwood.
The ironwood tree is as tough as nails for its bark,
But when you see its bloom,
Its small delicate pink blooms are soft,
Which means there is this loving compassion present.
So,
It's about connecting with being tough and strong,
But also remaining soft and compassionate at the same time.
The seventh tree is the hackberry tree.
The hackberry tree and its medicine helps us connect with the idea of being able to transform pain into beauty and let go of mistakes from the past.
The eighth tree in our circle is not a tree exactly,
It's a cactus.
But,
Because of the sacredness of the desert southwest,
We have to include the saguaro cactus.
The saguaro is iconic of the desert southwest and holds great medicine.
This is connection to unconditional acceptance.
It has the energy of being a compassionate father or masculine energy.
The saguaro also has the energy of being a sentinel or someone who watches over us and protects us.
The ninth tree in our circle is the alligator juniper.
The alligator juniper is named this because the bark of the juniper tree looks like the back of an alligator with all of its scales.
The medicine of the juniper is for cleansing energy or clearing negative energy.
It's connected to ancient wisdom and ideas of our soul.
The berries of the juniper tree are used for dyeing cloth or making things beautiful.
The tenth tree is the sycamore.
The sycamore is the guardian of the soul.
It oversees our health and protects our heart.
Our eleventh tree is the palo blanco acacia.
This tree helps grow our psychic abilities and connect with the history of our ancestors.
Because the bark of this particular acacia tree peels away almost as if it is a scroll,
You can imagine connecting with the akashic records of our past lives as well.
The twelfth tree in our circle is the elm tree.
The elm is connected to being able to heal our past.
It also helps protect our present,
Our moment of now,
And guards our future.
And the thirteenth tree in our circle is the cedar tree.
The cedar tree helps us to stay grounded,
Connected to Mother Earth,
Connected to this wisdom,
And also we can connect with cedar if we'd like to connect with spiritual guides that are present for us.
These are the trees of the desert southwest who will greet us during our guided journey.
You'll be both connecting with them spiritually and also receiving energy from each one of these trees.
I'd also like to share before we start our journey that instead of music today,
I'll be doing sacred drumming for our guided meditation.
Now as we get ready for our adventure and connecting with your wish,
I'd like to share a short poem with you to honor our journey ahead.
It's called Mirrored Circle by Julia Tree bows over the sea line Reflecting in water a circle divine Nature's tale with a hidden clue Trees bend reveal what's hidden within you Whispers carried by the gentle air A moment's pause is like a message so rare Horizons touch a deeper sight The mirrored circle truth takes flight Life's reflection a hidden decree The bending tree a mirror to see And now let's get ready to move into our journey together.
I'll have you move into a comfortable position,
Either seated or lying down,
Whatever feels best for you,
And closing your eyes and connecting with your gentle breath.
And now placing your hands on your heart,
I'll have you ask yourself this question,
What is a wish you would like to plant today for your life?
Allow the answer to bubble up to your heart,
To your mind.
And now speak this wish out loud.
And now let's move into our journey.
I'll have you take a deep breath in,
And exhale,
And another deep breath in,
And exhale.
Now I'll have you imagine that you're standing in front of your third eye,
This doorway into yourself.
And as you now stand in front of your third eye doorway,
Just connect with what that doorway looks like in front of you.
Allow yourself just to connect with this energy now.
And now in your imagination,
I'll have you reach out and touch the third eye doorway in front of you.
And as you do,
It becomes a brilliant indigo blue light that invites you into yourself.
You can feel the energy of the indigo light surrounding you.
And I'll have you take a deep breath in,
And as you exhale,
You step through this doorway of light and find yourself standing in a beautiful desert.
All around you are trees and creosote bushes,
Beautiful rivers,
And you're surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees.
And as you walk through this sacred desert,
The clouds overhead a brilliant white,
And the sky a bright open blue.
And all of a sudden,
A king snake slithers out of the desert and is now in front of you,
Showing you which way to go as he guides you deeper into the desert.
You begin to follow the snake as he leads you through the desert and up,
Where you can see that there are cliffs going into a canyon in front of you.
And now you reach the mouth of the canyon in which the snake is slithering into.
As he turns to tell you to follow him,
You see up on the top of the cliff is the sentinel of the saguaro cactus,
This protective figure who guards you on the journey.
As you look up and see that the cactus stands 60 feet high,
You thank the saguaro for being your protector.
And allow yourself to connect with the saguaro cactus as he watches over you.
The king snake begins to move into the canyon and asks you to follow him.
And as you walk on this path,
The canyon walls high overhead,
And all their beautiful colors of white and gold and red,
Allow yourself to connect with its beauty and ancient energy.
As you move deeper into the canyon,
It opens into a valley vast and wide,
And you see in the center of the valley there are 12 sacred trees in a circle.
Your guide the king snake moves into the circle of trees and disappears into a hole in the desert floor.
You now step inside this sacred circle of 12 trees.
Now as you stand in the center,
I'll have you imagine that the wish and intention that you set for your journey is a seed.
You take the seed,
Place it in your hand,
This wish upon your heart,
And now I'll have you imagine bending down and placing this seed in the ground.
You plant your wish seed now.
You feel the energy of the desert accept your wish and hold it in sacred space.
I'll have you now introduce yourself and connect with the energy of each tree.
First,
You walk over to the oak tree,
Placing your hands upon its trunk.
You connect with the oak tree now,
With his strength and courage and boldness,
Feeling that strength move through you.
You thank the oak tree for his strength and energy.
And now I'll have you move to the right,
To the next tree in our circle,
The mesquite tree.
Placing your hands upon the trunk of the mesquite tree,
Connecting with the tree's energy.
This is the tree of life,
The source of nourishment,
The ability to survive even in harsh environments.
Connect with the energy of the mesquite now.
And I'll have you thank the mesquite tree for sharing the energy of this gift.
And now moving to your right in the circle and connecting with the palo verde tree,
Her beautiful green bark and branches and leaves.
Placing your hands upon the trunk of the palo verde tree,
Connecting with the energy of individuality,
Of self-acceptance and of honoring your ancestors.
Allow yourself to receive her energy now.
And you thank the palo verde tree for her energy.
And now moving to the right in the circle,
Our next tree,
The cottonwood tree.
I'll have you stand in front of this beautiful cottonwood tree whose tall branches and beautiful leaves that sway in the wind and clap,
Greeting you in this moment.
You place your hands upon the bark of the cottonwood tree,
Connecting with the breath of spirit,
With that energy of life moving through you,
The tree,
The wind,
Up into the sky above.
Connect with cottonwood's energy now.
And thank cottonwood for the energy gifted to you.
And now moving to your right once more in this circle,
Now greeting the desert willow tree whose flexible,
Long branches reach down all the way to the ground.
You connect with the branches by touching them lightly,
Connecting with the energy of ancestors,
Allowing your own grief to come forward that desert willow might hold any space of sadness that you might carry inside of you.
And now moving to the right of the circle,
You see grandmother ironwood tree whose trunk is beautiful and round and strong,
And whose blossoms are soft and pink and glowing.
You reach out and touch the bark of the ironwood tree smooth beneath your hands,
Connecting with her strength,
Connecting with her compassion,
And allowing yourself to receive her energy now.
And you thank ironwood tree for her loving presence with you today.
And now stepping again to your right in the circle,
Connecting now with the hackberry tree whose bark is stubbly under your hands as you touch the trunk.
If you'd like to bring up anything on your mind where you feel like you've made mistakes in the past,
When you bring these up and share them with the hackberry tree,
The hackberry tree will help you let go of these mistakes on your heart and release them back into the ground.
Connect with the energy now of hackberry tree.
And now I'll have you thank hackberry tree for his energy and the gift received today.
And next in the circle,
Moving over to alligator juniper tree.
And when you reach out and touch the trunk of the juniper tree,
Noticing that the bark is like scales of an alligator,
Allow yourself to connect with the energy of juniper tree that is the connection to the ancient wisdom of mother earth.
Allow yourself to receive this healing energy now.
And now I'll have you thank juniper tree for his energy and the gift given to you today.
And now in the circle,
Moving over to sycamore tree.
Sycamore tree allows you to connect with your soul.
Sycamore is the guardian that oversees and protects your heart,
Your mind,
Your soul.
So receiving the energy of sycamore tree helps bring you into a state of feeling cared for and protected.
Allow yourself to receive this energy now.
And you thank sycamore tree for this protective energy.
Next in our sacred circle of trees,
You move over to the palo blanco acacia.
Smooth white bark of this tree,
Tall and slender reaching up to the sky.
Placing your hands on her trunk,
And as you connect with the energy of the acacia tree,
See what energy of the ancestors comes forward.
Who wishes to greet you today from your ancestors?
Receive this energy now.
And now thanking the acacia and your ancestors for being present here in this circle today.
And now moving to your right in the circle once more,
Standing in front of the elm tree.
As you stand in front of the sacred elm,
Reaching out and placing both your hands on the trunk,
You begin to receive healing from anything in your past that feels like there's still a wound present.
Allow yourself to receive this healing energy of your past from the elm tree now.
And now you thank the elm tree for being present with you today.
And now moving to the last tree in our sacred circle of trees,
The cedar tree.
Now standing in front of the cedar tree,
Connecting with its beauty,
Connecting you with Mother Earth.
As you reach out and touch the trunk,
You connect with being grounded,
Protected,
And safe.
Allow yourself to receive cedar's energy now.
And thanking cedar tree for the energy of his gift today.
And now that you have received the energy of all of the trees in the sacred circle,
That it begins to rain gently,
The sky overhead becoming cloudy and raining from the desert floor.
Now you move back into the center of the circle where you planted your wish seed.
And as the rain drops on the desert floor,
It waters this seed.
I'll have you now close your eyes in your imagination.
The twelve trees of this sacred circle begin to send you and your wish seed the energy of love.
I'll have you now receive this energy.
And you take a deep breath in,
And as you exhale,
In your imagination,
Opening your eyes,
You see that the wish of your seed has grown a new tree in the center of the circle.
As you connect with the tree of the seed of your wish,
What kind of tree is it that has grown?
What does it look like?
How big is it?
What color and shape is it?
And what energy does this tree carry that represents the wish that you planted today?
Allow yourself to connect with the tree of your wish now.
And as you connect with its energy,
What does it share with you about your wish,
And how it will help you grow your wish into reality?
Allow yourself to hear what your tree shares with you now.
And now taking a deep breath in,
And exhaling,
And exhaling,
Now you,
Your tree in the center,
And the twelve trees in the sacred circle become a wheel of light,
All energetically connected together.
Now allow yourself to receive the energy of all of these trees in this wheel of light,
Allowing you to help you connect with your heart,
Your soul,
And with your wish.
Receive this loving energy now.
And now taking a deep breath in,
And exhaling,
And exhaling.
You carry the energy now of all of the trees,
Including the tree that is your wish.
These trees will continue to work with you for as long as you need to bring your wish to life.
Now when you're ready,
I'll have you thank each of your trees for being present with you in this beautiful desert.
And now when you're ready,
I'll have you,
In your imagination,
Sit down so that your back is against the trunk of your tree that's in the center of the circle,
Becoming grounded and centered in this space.
And now in your imagination,
Closing your eyes,
And connecting once more with the energy of this tree.
And with each breath you take,
Imagining that this tree is no longer outside of you,
But inside,
Connected to your soul,
Connected to your heart.
And now taking a deep breath in,
And exhaling,
Coming back to this present moment with me here now.
And when you're ready,
Opening your eyes.
Now I'll have you take this time to stretch gently,
Just wiggling your fingers and toes,
Shrugging your shoulders,
And bringing them back down.
And gently turning your head side to side.
And just coming back into your physical body.
I'd like to thank you so much for joining me today here with our sacred circle of trees.
Remembering that when wishes are planted like seeds in the ground,
Your wish will grow with the help of the tree that came present for you today.
And may the magic of the desert and the strength of the trees help you create all that you want and need.
I wish you a beautiful and loving day.
Namaste
